Harbor Freight has their Baby Lathe for $73.00 normally $299.00

It isn't the most accurate metal lathe in the world, but for making some small laser parts this might work well.

It appears that it will handle up to 1.75" stock and about 5" long, which would be plenty for most smaller hosts and bobbles (caps, focus rings, heat sinks, etc.)

However, it will not cut threads, FYI.

This is the Google Group about this lathe that should answer any questions.

I'm going to see if one of my friends wants to buy it. He said he wanted some more tools.

Wow, that is a hot deal. You can make some nice diode holders and that sort of thing with one of those.

Unless it states online only it should be the same price as in the stores. There is a HF about 30minutes away from me, I can check it out on Monday for you.

The price in the store may be different. The internet based Harbor Freight and the store based Harbor Freight seem to be seperate entities. But, if the internet price is better I just print a copy of the internet ad and my local store will honor the price. I have saved money by doing that. So, print out the internet ad and take it with you!

There is one about 30 min from me aswell.. do you guys think this lathe would be decent enough to possibly make an aluminum aixiz heatsink spacer for my flashlight hosts?

The capability of a machine is largely in the hands of the machinest running it. You the one who has the cutters, calipers and knowhow.
We can't answer this question relating to you.

yes I understand, I have some experience with machining. Ive only worked with larger machines. I am curious to know if a tiny lathe like that would do the job.
