I just got a couple of free project enclosures that are really nice.  They came from Pac Tec as free samples.  Here's the link to them. http://www.pactecenclosures.com/New-Enclosure-Products.html

They will send you up to two free samples of their new products (cases), no charge for shipping or anything.

Here's a couple of photo's of the ones I got.  The white one also came with the black "rubber boot/stand" you see on the left.
Both have a battery compartment and hardware for either 9v or 2 AA.  The white case with the rubber boot is Model XP-9VB
and the black case on the right is Model XPM-9VB_2AA.  Both are designed to also hold a circuit board.  The website has
complete case drawings/dimensions, etc.

They are very high quality and relatively inexpensive if you decide to buy more.

Enjoy  ;)

While we are on the topic of samples, I have successfully received many samples in the past. Almost all electronics companies provide samples.

Just be honest, I have received phone calls from the companies in the past and they don't mind even when I tell them I am just a hobbyist.

Finally, don't abuse the sample programs. These companies pay a lot when you request samples (3$ of parts, 20$ shipping type stuff...). It is when people order indiscriminately that companies start closing off their sample programs. Order when you have a need for the parts, not just because they are free.

They're also more willing to provide samples if you have a *.edu email address, since it shows you're university affiliated, and therefore may be in a position in the future to suggest purchases. Some companies, like Microchip, have automated sampling programs for their stuff for *.edu addresses.

They have not called me yet and it has been over a week.  I don't mind if they do.

I plan to purchase more project enclosures from them in the future.  So hopefully it will be a win-win for both Pac Tec, and me.

I received my 2 enclosures yesterday.
i had ordered parts " PS24-100

&
xpm9vb2aa.jpg
PPL "

the power supply looking box looks ok, it was supposed to come in black but its free so im not complaining. im sure it could be used as a lab style host. the other looks like a calculator... well the case with no screen or buttons but there is a place for batteries.

Overall im satisfied. Shipping was about one week.

I am kinda bummed about not getting my sample switches, but thats from another thread.
