anyone know the dimensions of the 808nm module? seems strange as it says 15.75mm for a 9mm diode housing and 18mm for a 5.6mm diode housing...

The dimensions really are 50 x 15.75 mm, I don't know why,

Perhaps for easier recognition of batch products or something,
But yes, the info on O-like posted is true.

Hold on now I am confused...

Appears that I was wrong about $1 shipping, it IS $2.

However, that all sums up to $10 flat,
$4 housing, $4 lens, $2 shipping.

Were did you pull the extra .99 ?

My bad, shipping is $2 after all.

Yes, because I had to pay $4 for two modules to be shipped.

Nope, I was charged $2 total shipping when ordering two at once.
You certanly did not get charged shipping for each one, it gets combined.

sorry i meant why is the 9mm housing smaller in diameter then the 5.6mm housing? Hugo

No idea at all!

I meant, pehaps it is easier for them to recognise and ship modules if they are different dimension,
They could havea two boxes full with modules, instead of looking for papers or something, they only take a look at modules and see for what diodes they are , without unthreading them and looking in the diode pocket seperately.

Just my wild guess :D

^ or, maybe, cause the original units was made for red diodes ? ..... as you know, in fact of efficency vs heat generated, high power red diodes are the worse one, they produce more heat than BR and IR, so maybe the purpose was to have a module that can dissipate more heat, when they made it for reds ?

Me too, just guessing :p

I don't think it ha anything to do with heat dissipation as the difference between the two is barely measureable...

The 9mm one has a longer head, with 5 ribs , 5.6mm one has 4 ribs.

But 5.6mm one makes it up with thicknes...

But who cares... the modules are GREAT and I will buy much more of those!

And yeah, Susie, confirmed that they are now $11 shipped, $2 more expensive than I got them for two months ago.
Still a bargain (considering you get glass ARC lens with it)
