Hey All,

Was just looking on Fleebay like i normally do here and their and came across a Nice DIY Housing for a C mount diode.

Here is the Ad:
Focusable Laser Module Housing for C Mount Module with Heat Sink and LD Base | eBay

Others are selling it too but its More expensive from them:
laser housing c mount | eBay

Iam Guessing that they are all the same.

Here is a picture of the heatsink that holds the Diode:
CMountLabhousing.jpg

They dont show it in the First Listing that i have posted above. They only show the lens which is a 16mm one.

For $16.99 i think its a Good Deal.

I Bough one and Plain either to use it for what it it was meant for or make a new custom heatsink for it and add a 445nm build in there or if enough room what i really want to do is put one of my High power 635nm build in there with correction. But i will have to wait until it comes in to see if there is enough room.

Though i share with you guys maybe someone is looking for such a Housing.

I'll keep you guys updated when mine comes in.:)

:thanks: For Looking.!!!

I'v been eyeing these for a bit now.
They look like they have some good uses depending on how they are all designed. If you could perhaps post some photo's all around when you get yours.
Have fun:beer:

No Problem Buddy.

I actually thought of your 635nm C-Mount build when i found it. I was Going to send you a PM but you seen the thread before i had the chance.:)

It should be here in a couple weeks so ill make sure to do what you Request.

Thank you much. I didn't see the one for sale that you have the pic of. Now we can see what may be the mount for the diode, but this photo is missing the threads for the included lens, so it's still hard to see whats all going on there. Also none of them give a pic of the back of the unit.

My 635nm is coming along pretty good, still working on the TEC controller though.:banghead:

Yes. The First link that i gave above is the one I order. None of them showed the heatsink inside except one that i found in another listing so iam taking a guess saying that its the same.

I think the Heatsink goes in the back and the Picture i have above is of the back side of the unit/Housing.

The other side I believe is the front where the lens goes.

Its confusing the way its set up. I cant wait to get it.:)

I think thats how the set up is.

What do you think.?

Good to here your build is still coming along.

Interesting - I may finally have a way to mount some of the absurd 7W infrared C-Mounts that I purchased from Huurer... ;)

Ordering!

Great Guys. This little housing is Pretty nice for the Money.

Edit:

Also I hope the Aluminum heatsink is solid and not Hallow.

It seems solid.

Hey there, I was just browsing through Feebay again for these housing and was wondering if yours have arrived?
There does seem to be a distance between where the diode is set and the built in lens is set. This may leave room for more corrective optics.
Looking forward to your own pictures of this.;)

Edit: I waited to post, knowing that these types of deliveries can take up to a month.......Just got my 18650 battery's and chargers in the mail, after a 2 WEEK layover in customs....

Iam Guessing that it will be here by the end of the week.

Iam as Excited to see it as you are.:)

As soon as it comes in i will take lots of pictures and post them for you too see.:)

Hopefully there is enough room for corrective optics.:can:

Thanks much....looking forward to it.
They may just work for some nice lab builds! Not having a lathe or metal working equipment, it can be hard to find nice looking empty housings.

Yeah, I think they will make A Great Housing.

Well if these turn out Great, I have a Lathe and Can make heatsinks for the Housing.:)

Judging by the picture i would say that i can Make the heatsink for no more then $10 each.:)

So If you need one let me know.

Lazeerer, do you think you could make C-Mount heatsinks capable of threading a typical M9x0.5 lens?

Those are the same housings that O-Like uses for their
High Power IR Lab Lasers...

Can you give me an Example.

I dont Quit fallow the Design of what your Asking.

Are you asking for this Particular Housing or In general.?

Hey All,

It Finally came in today.

I took a Bunch of picture for you all to see the Lab Housing better.

Pictures:

PA200036.jpg

PA200010.jpg

This is the set screw that Holds the Heatsink in place. I would like to mention that in my unit the Heatsink Has No Play what so ever. Its Nice tight fit and Makes good contact all the way around.

PA200011.jpg

The Heatsink Removed.

PA200018.jpg

This is where the heatsink Sits In. Then the set screw to hold it in place. Its Way back In the housing.

PA200014.jpg

Here is the heatsink itself with the C-Mount Connection.

PA200021.jpg

Here is where the Lens Screws In. The threading is nice however there is Some Ply in there. But the more the lens screws in the less play there is.

PA200024.jpg

Next few pictures of the lens. The Greased/Lubed The Lens threads Like Crazy. I wiped quit a Bit off as I was afraid it getting on the lens. The Lens is Crystal clean. Not even a piece of dust on it.:) Very happy to see that.

PA200031.jpg

PA200032.jpg

PA200034.jpg

The lens is AR coated.:D It has a Pink/Green tint to it. Very Pretty looking. Iam Unsure if its glass or acrylic. If I can think of a way to test it with out damage i will check for you all.

PA200039.jpg

:)

So i will start off by saying I really like it. Its a Very solid design.:)

The Lens Has A very Long FL. Iam Guess 40mm. So from where the diode is to where the lens is you will loose alot of Light. It seems like there might of been another lens that was suppose to go in between the diode and the Focusing Lens. The Reason i think this is there is another set screw toward the Middle of the Housing that might have been there to hold another lens in the housing. Maybe an Expanding lens to have the light more concentrated rather then having it Expand just from the diode. I dont know. It could also be there to Hold a green Module that would have a heatsink round the module since the Diameter of the center of the housing is Larger then a Standard Green Module.

The Inside of the housing has 2 diameters. the larger opening is in the back where the heatsink goes nd that is about 1/4 of the module.

Then in the front where the lens Screws in the threads for the lens goes about Half way through the housing then stops then continues with no Threads.

What Iam Going to do Is make a Custom heatsink for this housing Since I will not be using a C Mount diode in here unless I can get a hold of a C mount 635nm diode. So I will save the C Module Heatsink and make no Adjustments to the Actual body of the housing so i can switch back if i like.:)

Iam going to make a Full body heatsink that stops Just short of the Front lens that came with the Housing.

Iam going to carefully remove the lens that came with the Housing and make a press fit aluminum piece that fits in there then thread it to hold stander 3 element lens.:) This will allow me to keep the Look of the housing and Not have to use a Regular Module Focusing lens. I hate them. I will paint it black to so you wont see any bare aluminum showing on the front.:)

Not sure what I ill put in this one but i think after this mod it can take a 2W 445nm in there with not problem.

I Will Probebly order another 2 and Just make a Matching set if i like how this one turns out.:)

Another thought would be is If the AR coated lens that comes with the housing would work with Red <660nm Good you can Alway Just Bore out the C-Mount heatsink that came with the Housing to fit an Aixiz Module. then Stick you Aixiz Module in there and use a Regular Aixiz Acrylic or glass lens to Expand the Beam then you can Use the Lens that came With the Housing to focus it back into a Dot. Like this:
PA200002-1.jpg

^^^ Just a Thought. Boring it out will be an Easy task and can do it for a Low cost.:)

Overall Iam very happy with this Lab Housing.

Hope this helps some of you thinking about purchasing this Lab Housing.

:thanks: For Looking.!!!
