Well its an awesome deal for 6mw of 473nm and $47 bucks shipped. Even if it didnt output anything it would still be a good deal, for the optics and housing.

Awesome SLP. You did get lucky. I was told that they all do <10mW. NONE Do 10mW. Those are saved for the more expensive one.

However he said most of them are ~5mW.:)

Not Bad. Its still a great deal just to see the wavelength IMO.

Edit:
Whats the Big round thing in the front of the lab laser.? My empty one did not come with a piece like this. Can you take a close up of the front of the unit.?

photodiode/pickoff-lens
check out this
http://laserpointerforums.com/f40/b-w-tek-bwb-10-oem-473nm-10mw-53423.html
They go into detail bout it here.
Also earlier when I LPM'd it, I only let it run for 30 sec before test.
After reading the above post. I realized it wasnt getting warm enough for it
to stablize and the green light goes out.
So after 5-8 mins it went off and I retested..
YAY 15mw

K took off the photodiode/pickoff-lens
for shiz and gigglez just to see how much it will put out
with out being regulated...
50.. I repeat 50mw OF Gorgeous 447!!
Now how bad is this to do? I read some that said it may shorten its life..
But how much? Is it just a heat thing that would do this?
Any thing I can do to keep it like this would be awesome, without of course damaging it to much...

Mine lasted about 3 hours at 25mw. Just an fyi.

Then it dropped to almost nothing. I'm hoping it's the c-mount diode and I can swap in a 2w that I have lying around.

So it takes a c mount.? I Just got a 2W form RHD for another project but i might just put it in Mine.:D

I know aliening is very hard to do but i have done a few ailment jobs before with good success.

Now i cant wait to get mine in.:D

Now that is if it is indeed the diode and not another problem.;)

Yeah these take C-mounts. I used mine for 2 minutes before I did a complete tear down. I tossed everything except the power cord/switch, prisms, and shell. Another case of Yobresal throwing away good laser stuff. I just can't help myself. Im going to throw a 445nm module in there with a Flexmod driver.

Hey Ice,
Did you get that 25mw for 3hrs by removing the front or
from messing with pots?

Thanks

Messing with the pots

That was a $75.00 one and it only put out 4mw when I got it.

I didn't remove the front until after it died. :(

Hmmm ya, im to the point now that 15mw is just a tease.. lol so im attempting
to get more outta if just by the pots alone. After turning one at a time,
just a one quarter turn at first, up to a full turn at a time-then test.
Well to say the least nothing much happend..except go down. I got it back to 15mw now.
So now I got it wired up so I can turn the pots while its running...
Wish me luck.. lol
If not gunna make a 405 labby outta it

Ghetto Wiring Job but it works :)

IMHO DPSS are sooo much cooler than the 405.

I wish you the best.

The $35.00 one I bought said "Power" on the head. So it was barely a blip when I hooked that one up.

No matter what happens they are a great deal.

Hey the housing i ordered arrived today it came in a box no protection or anything
bit dusty a lot of scratches and wires clogged in the back and fine other then that.
It also has a infrared filter glued over the whole were the laser will pass through.

For those who purchased a 'working' laser, I do not advise it
but removing the APC, the LD doesn't see more than 850mA.

The LD can take it from what ive seen and tried on more than
30 of these. The only thing is the TEC's are going to draw more
and the head will eventually warm up.. The driver gets pretty hot
as well.

I have run the ones ive kept up to 3 hours and no problem. Just add
a small fan to the driver board and the temp stays low. The head
I just placed on a larger piece of aluminum also with a small fan
and they run fine..

From what i've seen with the LD in these, .8A isn't going to take much
life away, that is unless the unit you get already had many thousands
of hours on it, and that's the gamble.. there's no way to know.

I will have to make a thread for these as I spent a couple of weeks
tweaking and tuning up several. These are a PITA to get the 'feel' for
but fun to experiment and learn on..

Just remember that there are 2 types of IR present when you take
the cap off and run them.. Get goggles
