You can get 2 sets of green buckyballs for 29.99 though woot.com today. They are not sold anywhere else. Not only that, one set normally cost 29.99.

I meant the green ones aren't sold anywhere else. At least that's what is says on Woot. I think it's a St. Patricks day special.

I have some silver ones from Neocube. Why are they called Buckyballs? They're not related with the buckminsterfullerene in some way i'm not aware of, are they?

there are like a gajillion names for them now
i think the "original" didnt patent it properly
and since it only neodymium spherical magnets, its not too hard to copy...

I have some silver nanodot balls and they beat buckyballs upppp.

I really do think that neocube or nanodots are pretty close to the originals.

I have no idea who came up with the original idea or what they were called.

Here's some cheaper ones. I do like the case better. NEW! 1 x 216 GOLD Magnetic Neocube Nanodot Balls! (eBay item 180600764760 end time 13-Apr-11 19:04:33 AEST) : Toys, Hobbies

The Woot listing had two sets of green ones so it came out to $15 each. I've got 432 balls of neodymium! I don't know if having balls of neodymium is a good idea though. They wouldn't clank around but you'd be attracted to all kinds of traffic signs...
