It's on Ebay and The sellers name is moneypowerrespect2008. He's selling a 125mW laser for $98.42. From a company called 'spymodex'; spymodex.com

I'd post a link but it says I can't.

I'm looking to buy a 125mW+ Laser. I want to (try) keep it under <300$ but I don't want something that is rated at 125mW and performs like a 5mW. Also though, mainly I'm looking for a burning laser and from my understanding it needs to be about 125mW to be effective at burning.

Also, I'm new here, I've already spent a lot of time reading everyones post and I think I'll like it here. Also thinking about building my own laser eventually when college funding isn't as much as an issue :)

Thanks in advance,
~Brandon

Welcome to the forum. :) I have not personally had experience with the spymodex but plenty of others have and I would stay away from them.

I would suggest taking your <$300.00 and buy a Nova X100 package instead. They are always under rated so you will end up with more output than what they advertise. I do recommend getting the package deal which includes a case, lightyears, Nova membership, and they will probably send you a free diffraction grating. Plus they have excellent customer service to boot and take very good care of their customers.

Nove recently changed their series, for example I have an X105 and now it is the X100. Mine has put out as much as 138mw's, but generally will peak as 128mw's. It came rated at 119mw's average and 122mw's peak. Also I am using eneloop rechargeable batteries in mine...the laser loves them..lol. Anything above 100mw's will be a good burner.

DIY red laser = <$50 for about the same power you'd get for $300 in a green... Plenty of info in Experiments and Mods.
Welcome!

Do NOT under any circumstances buy a spymodex laser.
Either buy a dealextreme 200 mw laser for $100 or buy a nova x-125 for $300 if you want quality.
