Does anyone have some spare IR filters they would like to give away free. I read you can get them from old cameras but I don't have any.

I would like to use them to filter the DX200. I am sure other forum members who have or are purchasing these dx200s would like to have this additional measure of safety too.

Anyone else who has just ordered a dx200 and would like a ir filter can chime in here too. Of course, we will pay for shipping!

You may have to trim them to fit as I've never bought one of these. Also, your output power will probably drop some because of the IR being blocked. Anyway, NOVA is an excellent company to work with.

How would you trim this? Is it like plastic? or is it a glass lens? By looking at this, it doesn't look as if you could trim it down. I dunno though. Also I think when you harvest an LD from a dvd burner, there is a IR fliter in there of some sort. I could be wrong but it looks like that same blue color.

I'll be sending my DX200 to one of the members of this forum for power testing very soon. So we shall see whether these are worth getting.

So far mine does burn and sting skin from close but fluctuates somewhat for burning power(I think it's the batts which run out too fast). Beam is visible in lighted conditions though. Appears ~2x as bright as my dx30.

I'd buy it again but I've no cash to spare.

WOW ---- I got my DX200 TODAY ------

DEAD - draws 1.2 amps and no output --- Not green or 808. Just plain dead.

The DX site is down.

Anyways, support is working fine, got an email response today, so you should be able to get an RMA.


Anyways, if people are so fascinated by the green 200mW, why not try the "valueselect" or what it is called, the DX partner site for multiple orders? You can get the 200mW there, too, and if you order 5+, it becomes cheaper as well as they manufacture it exclusively for you (might be wrong on that last point, though).
