Hi p,
I seen the diodes listed this morning when I was online. These would be great for a pen build of 660nm slept less orange in the WL. I might order some tonight just for fun. I would run these with a boost drive and a dummy cell behind it. First I will hook them up to my PSU to see what they can really handle. At this price it won't hurt so bad to sacrifice one or two..

I've built a ton of them (well more than 10 that's for sure) using just the cheapo AixiZ drivers. You can set the driver to max and it will give around 250mW or you can set the driver just past it's max point and it will output according to the voltage in. You can actually hit just over 400mW with a fully charged LiFePO4 cells (2) for 7.4V. Anything more and the diode will "poof". They burn really well too;) The diodes are case negative and that driver is case negative so if the diode isn't isolated make the host negative to match. At $4 for a diode and $ about the same for a driver what's not to like with that kind of output;) Doesn't seem like hardly anyone realizes what they are getting for the $ and those diodes and drivers have been around a long time.

One stinky thing is expect it to take a bunch of time to get the diodes as China is on their long holiday:(

Hi,
I can wait no problem, Just received 2-PLTB450B diodes and had one. Gives me time to pull out the spare pens .

PLTB450b diodes are in my opinion a cut above A and M140 and unless I get one of the others really cheap to play with I won't buy one over the PLTB

my LPC burned out a little while back, no biggie, as they are cheap, but now I gotta find it a new host and heatsink as it's old one was appropriated for another build

Hi P,
Yes i have come to notice the PLTB40B is awesome i like it better than the M or A 140's. I just ordered some PL450 single modes 120mW. I got two for 20 bucks i can run these a little longer in a pen build. The best thing is that you can give a best offer when you buy 2 or more when they offer the option. can't wait till i get he 638's 5 diodes were a nice price to test with.

@ Shake,
yes they are cheap enough to buy a few at a time, might as well being that there from over seas and have to wait so might as well make the shipment worth it and they ship free.
