And want a red HeNe laser?

There will be a ~5mW red HeNe with a 110V brick, power supply in it as well as a couple of other nice power supplies and other cool stuff. It is NOT worth paying to ship this monster. It weighs 35 pounds! However, if you can get by to pick it up, the "handling" charge should be low enough to make it still be a deal. You should also end up with a few pounds of aluminum OR a really nice aluminum "box" for a scanner

Thanks Dave... For your contribution to my impulsive buying ;D

The handling charge for pick-up is $5. I hope that includes decent packaging, and them not just handing it to me.
I'm gonna pick it up on Monday.

BTW, they have 15 units left if anyone else is interested.

NICE! That means you're paying $15 (plus gas) for a 5mW red (632nm) HeNe with a 110V PSU, plus the other cool stuff. You'll be able to recover part of that from recycling the aluminum as well (if you don't want the box). I wish I lived close enough to get by.

They'll probably just hand it to you

Here is the inside of the box. I was wondering if all I need for the laser to work is the copper cube and the black box attached to the copper laser tube?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Get everything "loose" from the case. Hold the big black aluminum thing in a vice (or whatever else you can hold it with). The HeNe tube is just "screwed" into the big black thing.

All you really need is the copper box and the laser. You will have to wire a mains plug to it, but it will just plug into the wall. I'll look up the wiring scheme and post it here for you in a few minutes.

Did you notice the other power supplies in there?

[highlight]**EDIT** [/highlight] I just realized (from your pictures) that you already had it lit so you probably don't need the wiring scheme

For anyone else that gets one -- white = power, yellow = neutral, green or green and yellow = ground

They've got more

If I lived a little closer (and my tailbone wasn't broken - OUCH! ) I'd drive there and get them all! You do a little work and you can double your investment with just reselling the HeNe's. Plus, you've got some other cool power supplies and electronics you could also sell AND the housing is pretty heavy aluminum (for recycling)

I do believe there is one more power supply, maybe two... I was too excited playing with the laser and cool mirrors to notice though. The big black aluminum thing is actually STEEL, I think. It's heavy at least. Also, I used my computer power cord (it fit) to connect and test the unit before I disassembled it.

There shouldn't be any steel in that part. It would have to much expansion and contraction to deal with.

I finally got around to playing with this thing and unscrewed it from the black aluminum box. When I power it up,the laser doesn't come out red, it comes out a weak blue beam. And I mean weak! Is this because of the lenses that are glued to it? Or is it too old and broke?
The glass side produces a red-ish beam (looks pink in the pic). Is it safe to remove the glass lenses? Or will this ruin the laser?

I can't find any references to these questions using the search feature on this forum.

Can you post a picture of the "lens"? Usually the mirrors are "hard sealed' to the tube. That means that you cannot remove them. Blue is not a HeNe line. I wonder if it's UV. Do you have anything that is glow-in-the-dark there? You could also shine it on a white shirt that has been washed with fabric softener.
