Can I swap out the kit's 70mW with Senkat's 200mW pre-installed LD modules?

For more than 2x the cost, they have a 100mW module and PS. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.10008

They use a different power supply, diode housing etc. I wonder where they're getting these? It's obvious they're not being built to sell as a kit but for some OEM application. (Who would design a kit that specifies an 8v input?)

I would like to know that to. Someone will have to try it out.

I ordered one as well.....long with some much needed shocker ink pens

I'm sure the Sencat diode will find it's way in there ;)

it does say red laser circuit board and red laser module kit but nowhere does it say red laser diode. They do post misleading titles sometimes. Besides a circuit board to drive red lasers and one to drive a green dpss could be pretty different.

Still it is very possible it includes a diode.

I'm quite sure it contains the diode too - otherwise there would be no point in specifying power output since that depends on the diode installed.

As for the circuit board: I'm pretty sure it is a dual driver board, with one current source for red, and one for the IR pump of a green... seems build for a RGY lasershow effect.

Do you think its a solder it all up yourself job? It says "kit"

Nah, DX is usually pretty fair with the photographs.. if it were a kit where you have to solder all components yourself, they'd include a photo of the board and loose components etc.

Re: 70mw RED Module With Diver $17.24

It says its a 5V input. Excuse my utter stupidity ... but does that meen that you have to put 5V into the driver board...or that the driver board will regulate the power down to 5V? Like hook it up to the mains and the driver regulates it so its safe for the diode? Or dont put more than 5V into the driver board otherwise you will damage it?
Ive probs just embarased myself :-[ haha :D

Re: 70mw RED Module With Diver $17.24

It means the board runs of 5 volts, and converts that to suitable supply voltage/current for the actual laser. Running it over 5 volts may damage it.
