I have read that the 50mw lasers WILL pop black baloons. I hope it's true!! We'll see soon enough.

I hope so to, but for the pirce you still can go wrong considering the 5mw ebays are the same price

50mw will sting sharpied or dark skin, pop sharpied or black balloons, slightly melt black trash bad plastic.
It will not cut electrical tape, and i have not tried any kind of matches yet.

It doesn't put out heat that can be felt with your hand or anything, but it will sting your skin after about 10 or 15 seconds.

a 50 should but be carefull that theres not a lot of IR that could be bad fer ya :p

Anbody gotten theres yet? I ordered on the 28th and nothing yet. They did send a tracking # though even though is useless

Got my 50mW today and so far I cant tell a difference between the 50mW and my modded 5mW

if you're lucky. ive gotten mine to pop about 3 balloons, after countless tries. really its the luck of the draw when it comes to the true power of your laser. also fresh batteries help.

Question regarding IR though... what are the dangers exactly?

The IR radiation may be much higher in power than the green. It's also less well collimated (the index of refraction of the lens will be different for IR), which means that you may get hit with invisible radiation when you think you're outside of the beam.

If you stay well away from the green beam, and don't look at the aperture from close up, the danger should be insignificant.
