Cool! I picked up the 50mW for 23$ shipped :)

They have some 3$ hosts that run on 3*AAA that don't look too bad either. Maybe if my MXDL's break I will pick up a couple, free shipping + 10% off, woohoo!

So.. what are these lasers like?

Are they identical to the normal or true pointers DX sells, or a different brand or construction? If someone could do a quick review, that would be very nice.

The 50 mW for $25 seems nice enough as well, if it performs okay that is.

The sites navigation is so poor
Can someone give me inks to the lasers that they've already ordered?

Thanks

I've ordered other stuff from ledshoppe before, but I would like to hear from simplysped and others regarding the quality of their stuff before I buy.

EDIT: Fuck it, bought the 30mW, will let you guys know how it turns out.  Shipping is pretty slow with this company though.

And FYI, the 10% off coupon code is: YABEPG. This nicely negated the shipment tracking fee on my order of $19.99.

Just ordered two 50mw greenies for less than $50.

I'll let you know my take after they arrive.

The thing is... these all look very much like the range DX sells, so probably few happy surprises there.

One model that interests me is this: http://www.bestofferbuy.com/50mw-green-laser-pointer-with-key-lock-cr2-p-944.html

DX sells it too, and the 30 mW CR2 (without the keylock) IS a really nice laser... so i wonder if this one is just as good with a little more power. Guess i'd have to bite the bullet and order one to find out.

If I were you, I'd buy it for evaluation purposes and report back with a review so the community can have some alternative sources to DX/KD for decent quality cheap lasers. Personally, I know ledshoppe is legit so I'm going with them first. I've already seen BestBuyOffer, wasn't going to buy their crappy 50mW pen, and I don't want to pay for the price of that key-locked CR2.

Well, the key-locked CR2 is about the same price as most similar lasers, $35-ish. It has only one review on DX, and that is quite negative. However, a similar CR2 powered 30 mW does really well, i own a couple (from KD and DX), and other reviews are mostly positive as well.

In any case, i'd go for the CR2/CR123 powered versions over the AAA ones any day.

I think these lasers are all the same, doesnt matter where you get them from, KD/DX/CQG or ledshoppe... same goods, similar prices.

i got the 30mW greenie from ledshoppe.com and i wanted to see if it would burn so i "tried" drilling a hole in the housing to access the pot easy to "pot mod" it. but instead of just a hole i pushed the drill in too hard and it hit the pot and completely ripped it off the driver. so now i have no pot on my driver i thought i destroyed the laser but now it pops balloons unlike before and is noticeably brighter

Hmmyeah, removing the pot can also completely disable any current limiting, which is probably what happened here.

One option could be to replace the driver with a different one... give the performance you are seeing right now this laser is likely to have a very efficient crystal set that combines well with its diode.

If you dont do anything about it, it is very likely that you will fry the diode soon, if not instantly when you drop in a couple of fresh batteries or something like that.
