what would have a better solid beam the x100 or alpha 65 or similar power rating? second what is the peak of ALPHA 65 OR SIMILAR RATING? LOOKING FOR A TIGHT BEAM OVER A DISTANCE. THANKS
The smaller beam diameter a laser has, it will usually have a worse divergence, and vice-versa.
All units are different. Some may peak at 70mW, some may peak at 100mW, while some may not work at all. A reasonable guess would be ~75mW.
This also applies to the beams. Some may have a slightly bigger or smaller diameter.
In comparison (without taking peaks-just advertised power-into account), the X100 would appear around 20% brighter. Having a "solid" beam would depend on atmospheric conditions, such as fog or humidity.
if you want to use it to point in the night sky, the alpha is better because you can use it for longer periods of time where the X-series has to be turned off every 45 seconds or so where the alpha can stay on for about 5 minutes no problem (I've owned both and I like the alpha much more )
