ok.. I bought my first and last laser right after joining up here. The laser was from rayfoss and it was a 532nm 50mw laser. I didnt have it very long and it started acting up and eventually quit working. It really upset me because i took care of it and followed the duty cycle and well i pretty much gave up on the hobby because of this. I recently found the laser housing (looks like a flashlight) and it has sort of rekindled the hobby.. So instead of ordering another i want to see if this will work.

The battery that i recieved with the laser pointer was a 16340 3.7v battery. It is still good. I have been looking at a few 3.0-3.7v modules on ebay that will fit into the housing. I dont really care what mw it is, but i would like what i had (50mw) or higher. I believe the module that i removed from the housing measured 12mm X 60mm. will this work. Or do you think i might as wel just buy a new pointer? I have been looking at a few on Lazerer. I think i just may go ahead and get a 100mw green and a 200mw red pointer and be done with it.

I am sorry it stopped working rayfoss is not the site it used to be and you got a bad laser it was not your fault you might be able to return it.
if you are looking to buy an new laser optotronics, CNI, Laserglow, or jetlasers is the best but if you have a budget like me lazerer looks to be a good reliable site. If I left the hobby every time I got scammed i would have left 3 times. when i thought all hope was over I found this site and relized I was scammed by cheap bad companeys. did a lot of research and built my own laser and it woks great. I have got much more interested in the hobbie and hope you don't give up quite yet on lasers and try to stick around a little longer. make sure you have safety goggles and hope to see you soon.

Hi there welcome to the forums.

Sorry about your first laser but if you do not want a repeat of a dodgy product then definately don't buy off ebay...you may get lucky but most likely it will stop working after a couple months of use.

Get safety specs! 50mw can cause permanent eye damage...
