Will a new Jetlaser 532 be better than my Krypton?

I'm thinking of ordering a Jetlaser PL-E Pro (532nm). I've been very happy with my Wicked Laser Krypton (>800mW)...especially since I bought it for under $800. Will I be impressed, satisfied or disappointed as I've enjoyed my WL Krypton for several years now. I've been hesitant on ordering the Jetlaser PL-E because it looks longer than my Krypton...and the fact that there are too many power choices. For instance, is the 800mW really an overspec(overboosted?) 600/700mw model...or are they all different configurations depending on power?

The PL-E's from JetLasers aren't lower performing units that simply came into overspec. The PL-E lineup has long had a high reputation of these forums for their excellent quality, superb design & performance.

If anything, whichever power option you get, there's a good chance your unit will be 2x maybe even 3x overspec. This isn't a rare occurrence for this kind of laser. Plus, you are backed by Gray's incredible customer service! :)

Have you had your Krypton metered? Power specs from WL tend to be......optimistic.

I have their "power output graph" and it seems reasonable. I have a few 200mW greenies (Dragonlaser & Optotronics) and they're significantly dimmer. I have to say that my Krypton does fluctuate a bit on warmup and the WL graph also shows that fact.

Could I trust Jetlaser to be more "honest" with their metering?

Definitely! :yh:

Thanks, but may I ask a silly question: Why do many laser-people not trust WL?

I've had nothing but good luck with them...both their products and support. In fact, their customer support was helpful in even sending me extra parts...for practically nothing more than the postage.

2X or 3X overspec?? Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you meant by that but you'll get maybe 100mW overspec, but doubt you'll get anything more than 300mW overspec. They test all their lasers with a 3-element lens so yeah if you use a G2 lens you'll get 25% more power, but that's not overspec and definitely not anywhere close to 2X or 3X overspec....

Mine does that, but can go down to 500mw sometimes, usually when it becomes too warm. Does yours do that?
