Hello guys!

I own a 5mW 532nm green laser now for about 6years & it's about time for an upgrade! I came across this forum & looks like you guys could help me out.

I've been searching for days but i couldn't find any 150mW-200mW range handheld green laser.

Does anyone have any tips/links to help me get closer to what i'm searching for?

complete handheld laser or complete handheld diy kits prefered.

I actualy am looking for a very visible green beam that's able to burn things.
My budget would be around 50-100$ .

Thanks in advance and feel free to comment on my thread!

You may want to consider increasing your budget Thibobo, $100 isn't going to go very far for 532 lasers in the 150mW-200mW+ range. :)

Also, are you dead set on having 532 nm, or would another green color do as well?

If you would consider 510 to 520 nm it might be worth looking into diode lasers that directly produce this colors. Not that they are that cheap, but they are much more stable over larger temperature ranges.

I case you want good beam quality you'd have to go for a single mode diode and probably get a bit less power for your budget. If you don't mind a more divergent beam you could go for a multimode diode. It could be slightly above your budget but provide a LOT more power than 200 mW (think in the 1 watt range).

Try O-LIke they have been around along time and do a fair/ honest representation of their products + give good customer service.
What they offer is about as low cost as it is going to get. See: Green laser : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

They offer a 100mW 532nm green for $49.99 which they claim burn well. See: New Special Cute Burning 100mW green laser torch/focusable/ [OL-GT-100] - $49.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

and they offer a 150mW for $103.99 here: Power Rock Green laser Torch 150mW /Focusable&Waterproof [OLPRGL150] - $103.99 : Zen Cart!, The Art of E-commerce

and they offer a 200mW at $136.99 here: http://www.o-like.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2&products_id=194

I would have to measure a laser from O-Like as I believe they tend to be overly optimistic on their power levels. I've only purchased the cheapest stuff from them so if it turns out not to be what they claim, the loss is small. I think it's pretty much hit and miss.

Welcome to LPF.

Do not forget to get safety glasses as well. As said before with this budget you are very limited. Also it depends what quality you prefer and what use you consider. If you want nice beam go for 532 nm, if you tend for more power per buck likely 520 nm will be an option (depends on how expensive the host is as well). Color is slightly different, but 520 nm does not have that thin beam and might not be circular dot.

Here some out of buget, but of higher quality lasers:

Pointer style high powered and quality lasers are at Optotronics example:
Optotronics Green Pen Pointers

If you do not live in US also Wicked Lasers does a nice 532 nm laser Evo:
Evo Tactical Handheld Green Laser - Wicked Lasers
(out of stock right now, but there are glasses included in price)

Or you might check Sanwu for diode (520 nm) lasers:
https://www.sanwulasers.org/product/pocket

Also Jet Lasers is reputable company:
PL-E Pro 532nm Green Lasers

Also for higher power/bucks ratio you might consider some blue diode lasers.

Good luck with your selection.

Stay safe and enjoy. ;)

Thanks for your reply!
let's say 200$ budget then? i'm saying 150mW-200mW because i think that's the amount of power needed for a strong stable very visible beam. it could be more or less. also it does not have to be 532nm exactly i'm just looking for a nice bright green color.

thanks alot!

I am looking for a bright stable powerfull green color the wavelength does not really matter to me. The amount of power doesn't really matter that much too, but i said 150-200mW range because i tought that was i needed.
For the beam i wanted not a too small & not too big beam like just very good visible but not a big fat beam, i'd also want to get to shine a few kilometers with it.

thanks for your reply!

the 150mW & the 200mW might just be what i'm looking for! sadly enough they are out of stock for the moment!

that's where i'm worying about spending 100+$ on my first powerful handheld laser & not getting the amount of power they describe. maybe it's better to build my own? do you know any diy tutorials on this forum for a good strong stable handheld laser?

maybe i could bet closer to what i'm searching for with a 200$ budget?
i do not realy care about the wavelengths i just wanted a very good visible stable, bright beme that has some nice range too (5km+).

maybe it's beter to build my own? if so are there good tutorials on here how to build your own handheld laser here on this forum (with parts linked?)

thanks alot!

Welcome to LPF thibobo!
You've gotten some good advice here, and it's great that you're trying to answer everyones post, but multiposting is frowned upon here, although I'm sure you didn't realize it, as you're new.

To answer multiple posts, use the multiquote and qoute functions located at the bottom right side of the posts.

Edit: FYI, the Custom Search bar at the bottom of the page has answers to most anything laser related, lots of information there.

Edit #2: If you really want a high quality 532nm at <$200, you should take a look at this - Jetlasers PLE-Pro 532nm.

BowtieGuy's suggestion is 100% right. A Jetlasers PL-E Pro 300mW 532nm is the best choice for <$200 in a 532nm green laser--much better than anything O-Like offers.

JetLasers make professional grade excellent products and have the best customer service in the business --- the 300mW 532nm at the new lower price is a bargain @ $179 --at that price it is a "no brainer"--nothing else is going to come close in quality, features, and duty cycle/runtime

Yes, I was pleasantly surprised to see any PLE-Pro with a sub $200 price on it; you won't get a better product at that price.
You may also try and send Hakzaw1 a PM, many times he has various pieces of new Jetlaser stock on hand.

I think you have got the answer already, seems as best option for long range visibility. :) Still add some bucks for shipping and eye protection (must have). You might also consider getting JL beam expander for increased distance, but this will be likely too expensive in total for you.
