Re: Nova X75

I have the x75, which is a great laser... and averaging at 84mW, it breaks the "burning barrier", but is not so sufficient.  I wanted the x-75 so I could have a nice bright green portable pen style for a nice beam, and for visibility in the day light for pointing at construction sites and such for my work.  Will it pop a balloon, yes.  Will it light a match, yes.  Will it melt dark plastics, yes.  But it takes a few seconds for all and it needs to be pretty close, like 4 feet and after that there's not much burning, and the burning up close is kinda slow.

If you're looking for burning power, then go with the x125, or build a blu-ray!  The blu-ray's burn like crazy if you get a good one, either PHR or 6x, although my ~180mW 6X kicks ass and can burn from across my entire house (about 35') like no problem.

Re: Nova X75

Opps i deleted my post. Anyway for those of you who didn't see this before, i was wondering if the Nova x75 was good at burning and melting black plastic. I am thinking now i might get a x100 or x125. Unless someone else suggest something as good as nova with IR filtering. I am looking for something around the price range of Nova.

Re: Nova X75

One more quick question. Is the nova X-series focusable. if not how big is the dot.

what is the difference between a Nova x75@ 169 $ for 85 mw and one susie's module at 120mw+ at 108 $ ? why pay more to have less?
less divergent beam? Ir filtered? aluminium case ? key switch ? 3 month warranty ?

im not convinced :-?

In one you get a complete laser that is fully built and ready to use (X75).  In the other all you get is the module with driver and switch (O-Like).

Do you need/want a finished laser or do you only need/want the module to build it into something?

Oh yeah . . . . The X75 is ~75mW. The 120-150mW module is >120mW

Peace,
dave

I was about to buy a Nova X75 but I got an e-mail today from NOVAlasers saying that only their Alpha series was legal in the US.
