So I'm getting ready to buy my first burner and I'm really most interested in two rayfoss lasers(since they are cheap and supposedly pretty nice quality). The thing is, I can't decide which to go with between the two. I've also had trouble finding any sort of reviews on the first.

As far as I can tell, the only difference is that #1 has a 90 second duty cycle while #2 has a 60 second one. Also, #2 appears to have a shutter as well as being focusable while #1 only appears to be focusable. Any help is greatly appreciated, lasers linked below!

I'm actually thinking of buying #2(as seen in sig) and when I was reading up on it I found it to be superior to #1, if you want to spend the extra 7$ I recommend the second one as it has been reviewed several time with all good reviews so you know your buying a good laser, Ive also has #1 in a 50mw version from yotang.com(my cousin bought it and I bought it off him) and the focus ring wasn't the best and #2 sounds like it has a better one from the reviews I've read compared to the one I had, the one thing I don't get is how #1 can have a better duty cycle when #2 has a bigger body and probably better heatsink...

That's also something that had me confused. Honestly, just going by the specs provided on the site, #1 seemed like the better option. I have still been leaning toward #2 though because I believe in the power of reviews ;) The $7 isn't really a big deal since I'm putting down about $150 for the laser anyway, so I'll probably end up going for #2 then.

Thanks guys!

I just ordered #1 from Rayfoss (100mW). I know the reviews to #2 are great, but i really wanted a pocketable laser, and #1 when used with the small batteries get as short as 110mm according to what Faona tells me.

I really like the protective closing cover in #2 though.

Damn i wish these models had freaking names to them!! it would be so easy to search for reviews for them in LPF. I think Rafoss and o-Like need to take a tip from Wicked Lasers! Name your products ppl!

I have had #2 for some months now, apart from the beam exiting at a very slight angle from the body I have no complaints about it.

Anyone who has seen it in action has been in awe of it. But then again I live in the UK where this laser is 200 times the power of a legally sold laser

I have been looking at these two lasers as well. I really want to get #1 because of the size. How is the focusing on #1? I haven't read many reviews because I don't know what to search! Thanks.

I had one almost exactly like number one and it feels really good in the hand and can fit in the pocket as well but there is no shutter therefor allowing fuzz and lint into the projection hole and making the dot have spatter around it!

Is it hard to deal with the splatter or can the lense be cleaned regularly to avoid it?

Also, besides the splatter how is the focusing mechanism on the laser- does it work well to focus in and out or does it just focus out? (is the question clear?)

:thanks:

Yes your question is clear! It has a nice focusing mechanism I would say that the lens is easier to clean on one but the focusing mechanism on 2 is superior because the whole head does not move just a small ring near the end! over all I liked both its just an opinion on which you like better and your budget!

I agree and I actually sent Faona an email suggesting that.

Here's what I said:

Hi Faona,
I have a suggestion for your website.. I noticed that Rayfoss lasers are becoming very popular on the laser pointer forums.. Only problem is, when people are discussing your lasers they have a hard time specifying which one they're referring to. It would be much easier if each of your lasers had a name aswell as a model number. For example, the RF532-200mW-FLX could be referred to as the "LaserMax" series. So when people are speaking of this laser, they would refer to it as a 200mW LaserMax rather than trying to remember the part number RF532-200mW-FLX. You could do the same with all of your lasers and I believe it would help with sales because people would remember a name more easily than a part number.

And her reply:

Thanks for your valuable comments... Appreicated !!!
We would take your ideas and rise such kind series name for our lasers on webpage.
We would update it step by step. Welcome your further comments in anytime!

Thank you very much!

Have a nice day!

So maybe she is serious and is going to give them all names. We'll see.
