Question for SD-300 Green Laser

Hi all,

I'm new here, and I'm wondering on this product :

$67.80 - SD-300 200mW 532nm Green Laser Pen Pointer with Battery Set (1*18650) - Green Lasers

Seems to be solid.

I found a few posts without a real review, so I decided to ask you.

Can you tell please if this laser is good? Also how much is IR radiation and how much is in green spectrum .It is true 200mW?Is anyone measured actual values of this laser?

I have this one :
$33.81 - True 100mW Green Laser Pointer Pen Black - Green Lasers

Build quality is very bad :gun:

but I have many problems with this one(e.g. bad button , not very good contact and many others) and want to upgrade. Is SD-300 more powerful than my 100mW "true" green laser pointer.

Thanks in advance,

Cheers,

those will be low quality and not even close to up-to-spec. go to o-like or rayfoss for good quality lasers. you'll be happier getting something from one of them instead of DX. also, just a tip; get one that uses 16340 (3.6v-3.7v li-ion cr123a) or 18650 batteries. my green uses AAAs and it eats through them like crazy.

Thanks for your replay and tip.
Yes I'm searching only 18650 laser. Also my true 100mW green laser pointer uses AAA and this is no good. Is not convenient, instead of a one big capacity battery.

Here also posting some pics from my DX true 100mW laser :

Seems to be a powerful beam (also burn matches, but this maybe from IR).
But I am not satisfied with the construction - there is a problem with screwing batteries pack - it is very difficult. Also like I said button stuck sometimes.

I'll just say one thing.

Not expect a good quality with this products. The laser that you will have, will be good or bad depending on the money you pay for it. That simple. And this I say , since I have been the first to ask about the quality of a laser, but deep down we all know that we will not wait much for something cheap.

This is a 200mw laser, for only 67 bucks. This is less than it costs a Viper 15mW, for instance. The laser will be what you pay for it.

My next laser will be expensive, because I want to be sure that I buy something quality. Offers on lasers, does not usually come out on account. I realized
If you want some quality, forget about paying little money, you will lose.

As first or second laser you buy, is not a bad choice of course, but if you want in future best lasers, you should pay more. It's like everything in life. Logically, sometimes there are manufacturers that offers good quality/price on products, but no always is like this.

Regards!

Antonio, aun así no creo que baje tanto. supuestamente el maximo es 200 mw asi que lo más probable que de es mas o menos unos 100mw. Ten en cuenta que seguro que no tiene ni filtros IR lo que abarata costes...

---

Antonio, if the maxium mw is 200mw, i don´t think that it will have less real mw than 100mW. You have to know that the laser probably, dont have an IR filter so that makes it cheaper...

Saludos!!!

I´ve seen this one: $67.40 - SD-303 Focusable Stars Light 200mW 532nm Green Laser Pen Pointer with Battery Set (1*18650) - Green Lasers

It is very similar to the SD-300 but it is focusable. I think that in my birthday i´ll buy this.

As David says, probably it will have a lower mW but i THINK (i am not sure, i haven´t a laser yet) it will have aproximately 100mW, so i think it is a good product. If you buy in o-like for example, they will be over-spec but the price is pretty higher...

Of the "good" companies out there, o-like and rayfoss have some of the cheapest prices. Usually they aren't over-spec but you can get lucky (or you can ask to get a little-over-spec one). If you read through many threads, I recommend these companies to people new to lasers because of the price-for-quality and price-for-power of their products; not to mention both have excellent customer service (even if in "chinglish").

I'll just say one thing.

O-like and Rayfoss are good for people new to lasers as I just said.
As antonio said: Over time, most people move up to higher quality companies that cost more.
Higher quality companies include Optotronics, Laserglow, JetLasers, DragonLasers, and the best out there, CNI.
Although it is getting old, the sticky in the Green Lasers section called A Guide To Buying Your First Green Laser, goes into further detail about companies and what to look for in quality and in the lasers themselves.
I'm not completely sure if I said anything relevant here as I walked away from my computer for awhile in the middle of writing this haha.

Can anybody measure the real output of this laser, please. How much green and how much IR.
Also there is a 300mw Green laser on DX pen style( ) ,and people says that is much brighter than the true 100mW one.

Pen styles should not have even close to that much power. Other than being underspec, they just shouldn't be that high anyway. Pen style hosts have bad heatsinking so the duty cycle is pretty short. Also, the batteries used in pen style hosts won't last long.

Green laser pointer can make <150mW output power by pen styles! And SD-300 200mw green laser actually contains 2 power( green and infrared )!

Yes I suppose this. But I can measure how much is infrared and how much is green light. (on my true 100mW green).

little is green light!808nm to 532nm only about 10%!So,true 100mw green need about 1000mW 808nm laser

You are right maybe only the percent are different.
Other sources on the Internet says that efficiency of this process (turning IR to green) is not 10 % but a 20-30%.

DPSS Green Laser Pointers

DPSS Green Lasers - How Green Laser Pointers Work

So if total output is 100mW , green will be no more than 20-30, and rest will be IR. But if 100mw are pure green , there will be 500mw+ IR output.
