Im a new member here, but iv attempted (not succeeded) with my research on the quality of green lasers.

Im looking to buy a higher quality laser than what i have prefferably 200mw+. And my question is, does it rly matter where you buy em from?

Now obviously stores like Budgetgadgets, Dinodirect, Dealextreme are centered out of the US. But does that affect the quality of the laser? The 200mw is around $80 for the average price. When on sites like Wickedlasers, and Dragonlasers (which seem way more trustworthy) they are closer in the $400 and even thousands.

The 2 ways iv thought of comparing em are mw and price. Is the $70 laser from DX (200mw) better than the $70 laser off dragonlaser? (5-10mw)

My main goal is to get a quality green laser that can hopefully do the following
[x]Burn paper
[x]Visible Beam (hopefully during day)
[x]Cut dark thin items

I know dragonlasers has a chart for this, but does that chart apply to DX,Budgetgadgets, and Dino direct?

Im hoping you guys will help me, after all this is the laser forum so most of you should be pro's. Thanks guys, i appreciate it.

I believe the DX 200mw's are seldom ever near that. More like 100-150mw usually.

a real 200mw laser should do 1 and 3 when focused. #2 is a bit more tricky. Inside or outside? FOg or no fog? A visible beam outdoors in the daytime, with no real fog or particulates in the air, would take hundreds if not thousands of watts of power. outdoors clear air at night would take tens to hundreds of watts. Indoors, it really depends on how clean your house is, or if your using fog, as to how visible the beam is.
Dark room with fog or smoke, you can see just about any power beam. 200mw, especially green, would definitely be visible indoors in daylight with smoke or fog. Without it, probably not unless your house is really dusty.

Buying a green laser from a "less" reputable dealer you will not get what is advertised. Usually if you get an advertised 50mW you will get that or sometimes more! But anything advertised at 100mW and over, seldom do you get that AND they rarely have an IR filter.

If you order from one of the more reputable companies you can get what is advertised and an IR filter.

I agree with the reputable sites. Im looking at dragon lasers 125mw. Dinodirect fucked me over pretty badly, never trust them or buy from them. Im stuck with their 100mw cuz they wont refund it even after i canceled the order the decided to send it out anyways.

Anyway thanks for the responses, i noticed that cheap dealer websites usually have horrible quality.
