Problems with my O-Like Transformable/Adjustable

I recently bought the

200mW transformable green laser/adjustable [OLV6200] - $129.99 : Welcome to O-Like.com, Your source for laser products

December 23rd, but finally got it last Friday.

Ever since that day, I have had problems with it, it worked right out of the box, but then suddenly just stopped working altogether, no matter if I changed the batteries, messed with the tailcap or anything.. I tapped on it numerous times to kind of shake it around to see if that would work and it FINALLY came back on after probably 100 taps. So I was like okay I can deal with that... whatever.

But every day since then, any time I try to turn it on for the first time that day, or sometimes randomly while sitting there playing with it, it does the same thing. I have to sit there and hold the button down and tap on it numerous times for it to finally come on. Some days.. it takes longer than others, today though.... it's not coming on at all even after 5-10 minutes of fooling with it.

I emailed Susie last night and told her of the situation and she told me to "make sure the tailcap is getting a good connection" .. so I kind of slightly bent the little metal piece, and it made it work perfect. I played with it for about 30 minutes last night and it was still working. So then I laid it down and went to sleep.. well, when I woke up this morning.. it is completely dead.. I have tried changing batteries, unscrewing and screwing on the tailcap, turning the lock switch on and off, tapping on it to kind of shake things around, hold down the button to just see if it will finally fire up after about 20 seconds.. but nothing is working. Has anyone ever had this sort of issue with a laser before? If so, what could be causing it, and what could be done to fix it without having to ship it back?

EDIT: I just managed to get it to come on, after hitting it very hard against my hand.. I just do not like having to do that EVERY. DAY. Sometimes.. a few times a day. It can not be healthy for the laser, and kind of embarrassing when I want to show someone my laser, but have to "beat on it" before it will even come on. I feel that if I paid $130 (I know, that's not expensive when it comes to lasers, but still) that it should just.. work.

I never go outside of the 60 second duty cycle, that is the advantage of having a momentary button.. It reminds me to not use it very long and then let it sit for a few minutes before using it again. Yes, the battery is charging, the charger goes green after a few hours, also, I have other batteries I put into it as well, and it does the same thing.

It's just so depressing =/ I'm an impatient person and to wait so long for something and then it be pretty much broke and have to send it back.. and then wait lord knows how long to finally get another laser back..

Hey Guys,

I'm having the exact same issue with my 400mW Green I just got a couple days back from O-Like.

I have not shook it though, but it just does not turn on when I switch it and I found that I keep having to switch it on and off and then randomly it will just turn on at some point. Also, when I do get it on I found that it turns off on its own after running about 4-5 seconds only.

So far I've only used it 3 times and each time having the same issue. Can anyone please help.

I'm thinking the best bet for you guys would be to contact Susie at O-like and return your lasers. The wait will suck but you'll end up with a brand new, working laser.

Sorry for your lasers guys. I ordered two of the 200 mw in the past two weeks, one is the new "cute" one as she calls it. It works perfect for me and the other just arrived (I ordered it for a friend of mine) today. He choose this one since the new version was out of stock.

So far that also works fine, but! It is obvious that the one you had the problems with deffinatelly need an update or no wounder why they are haveing a new kind. This older version does not impress me with it's looks. Sort of cheap looking rough unprecise finish.
At the same time I must admit that it's beam is thiner and brighter than the new one has.

Let's see how this functions, but it's good to know that there are many with similar problems.
Susie will have it replaced no doubt.

Cheers!

Thanks Everyone!

Really appreciate the feedback and assistance. I'm not to keen on hitting it cause I don't want to cause any damage to it.

I guess I'll go with your suggestion and contact Susie and maybe send this back for a replacement.

I'm not really hitting it forcefully enough to damage it.. just enough to kind of shake it around.. haha

Maybe the spring @ the negative terminal got bent by the battery...
It is quite possible if there is no protection around the spring.

Anyway, could you fix it?

Actually the problem was with the tailcap.

I did speak with Susie on this and she has been very helpful to help resolve this.

I'm happy you could solve the problem.

I have from O-like the IR filtered 450mW 532nm Green laser torch and after the 2nd use the spring was bent then broken off by the 18650 the battery from the circuit board (driver) and since then my torch is useless.
I wrote an e-mail several days ago to Susie in order to ask for help however no one got back to me... :(

I'm sorry to hear about that, I found that sometimes Susie does reply after a few days so she might get back to you soon. Otherwise you could send a reminder.

I have sent 3 e-mails to her...now I'm gonna wait for a week and see what happens.
Hope for the best!
