hi
I'm new on this forum and I have a bad news.
I bought a Powerful Crown upgrade 500mW green laser 2 months ago and it has a power variation.

The beam is sometimes very bright and moves straight away to low bright, ex : from 100 mw to 500 mw in a few seconds.

Do you know why ? :(

What battery are you using? I wouldn`t use the crappy one that comes with the laser. Try using a better one like a Sanyo or Panasonic before contacting susie and asking for a replacement.

While it's true the ICR AW should be fine, my personal experience has been that this laser, and ones like it, perform better with an IMR battery.

If even with an AW the laser still hops in power, dont loose track of time, contact o-like befpre the warranty expires

Actually some fluctuation in power is perfectly normal for these. I would worry if it dips below 300mW in under a minute though.

This is on a tec based LPM... with an ophir the results would be even more erratic:

I forgot to tell you that the power variations are only the first 10 seconds when starting, I don't know if it's normal but at the beginning it didn't do it.
When I received it, the lens which is in front of the glass was broken so I wonder if a shock happened during the travel.
Do you think it could be the driver ?

He says it dims alot. If his laser went from e.g. 600 to 400mW, like in your graph, he would hardly see the diference..

DjLscatt: if you do have to contact o-like, they take their time answering their emails. They give very simple replies. And they seem to like to drag it out as long as possible. I think in my case they were hoping to make miss the deadline of when I could do a paypal dispute.

Good luck!
