Hey I would like to remove the driver and module for my cheap green laser(IR now) I removed the head and unscrewed the lens and removed the crystals but now what I want to do is remove the whole module and replace the diode with a more high powered one I have. I'm not trying to make a green laser, I'm trying to build an infrared laser.

I want to keep the driver, module and host intact.

The glue seems to be in there pretty good.

Help is appreciated!

The diodes that i have are 808nm at 300mW.

How powerful is the stock diode in these lasers?

It depend what glue they have used, and how the module is fixed in the host .....

Sometimes modules are simply pressed straight in the host tube, and fit with some superglue (rare, very cheap ones) or epoxy bicomponent glue (almost all the times) ..... some other times, other than the glue, the module itself is screwed inside the host tube (usually this can be seen when the inside of the host tube have threads for all the lenght)

There's not too much to do, if they have used a lot of glue, but can be tried using a fine and sharp tool for scratch it away gently, a bit at a time ..... sometimes, when the host is chromed metal, heating it a bit with a phon can help too (but not exagerately, and also not the ones that appears "gum-painted", cause this take away all the paint layer)

Using solvents is not the better choice, they can ruin the crystal, or the expander lens (if it's not glass, and half of the times it's not glass, it's acrylate)
