hello guys.I have this romisen laser from DX.

DealExtreme: $27.07 30mW Romisen L-B030 Green Laser with GITD Tail (CR123A)
Well, i wasn't very satisfied with its output so i twisted its pot to the maximum!
Now, it's more powerful with a nicer beam, but there is a problem....
It heats up pretty fast (15-20 seconds of constant use) and it becomes weaker and weaker until it cools up a bit.

Can i do anything to prevent it from heating up so fast???

Please help me with your precious advice!

Turn the pot down to where it was!
You risk ruining your laser. I had the other model of this laser, but there is little difference.
I turned the pot up twice. When I turned it up for the second time after a few hours of use, it only worked for about half an hour before burning out.

Most (if not all) DPSS lasers sold today are adjusted to their optimum setting from the factory.
Turning up the pot will only kill the laser. As already stated!

Let me give you analogy:
Back in the 70's people would buy a new car and right away, go out and buy a 1000CFM Holly carburetor for it. They would install it, then call me saying, "I just put this awesome $500.00 carburetor on my car, now it runs worse then it did before"
You can't give a device more fuel (or in this case, current) then the device's internals can handle.
If you want to increase power, start with the internals.IE: Car engines. First mod. the engine to handle more fuel by installing a bigger cam, larger valves, larger exhaust pipes, etc. Lasers more powerful diode, driver, etc. Then you have some headroom for adjusting the F/A mixture or current without destroying anything.

Great analogy... but what if OP know's absolutely nothing about cars?

As others have stated in this thread, just turn the pot back.

You seem to have bought one of the "less engineered" Romisen green lasers...fromt the looks of it, the module "floats" in the host just like in the NewWish pens. Its entire heatsink mass is the couple g's of brass, this is the reason for the quick drop in power...the diode and crystals heatup way beyond optimum rather quickly.

I do remember quite a few of the romisen lasers had/have quite decent heatsinking though.

Personally I have had good experience pot modding these modules (after providing decent heatsinking), but you millage may vary.

Heya, I only recieved this Laser today, and will be doing a review shortly, dont have any batteries at the moment, but should get some tommrow, and ile get on with a review and let you know how my one went,

with regards to your issue, you may want to turn the pot down a tad, or find some heatsink device that might fit, but other then that im not sure.
