O-like "cute green" focus?

I recently recived my 300mW "cute host" red laser and the 200mW green in the same host. The red laser seems to have a MUCH wider range of focus than it's green counterpart. When viewed with goggles, the green laser dot gets to be maybe 2 cm diameter at its widest, where the red can be inches in diameter at its closest focal point.

Is this to be expected or rather a flaw in my green laser?

i think it might have to do with you can't get the lens as close with the green module as you can with a standard diode.

The red diode is smaller than the green diode. Blu-ray/405nm diodes are also much smaller than green diodes. This means the green has less room to focus so you are limited in its focus range. Thats how I understand it, but if anyone has a better explanation, feel free to listen to them.

Well the green is just a different type of laser. It's a DPSS, so they end up having thinner beams at the aperture than the red/blue/violet diodes. The red/blue/violet diodes are about 3mm or so across when they exit the standard lenses used for them, whereas the greens may be 1mm across or so.

Still, what you're seeing is probably just a function of whatever lenses the manufacturer chose to add to the focusing element, not so much a problem with the laser or something specific to the wavelength.
