Hello everybody!

I just ordered a "TRUE GREEN" 50mw laser from deal extreme and i believe they are supposed to be "newwish" brand lasers. I also noticed that there are Knock-offs of newwish lasers on that site. I was wondering if anybody knows how i might determine if the laser i receive is a newwish or a knock-off as I've heard people say that deal extreme sometimes trys to pass a non-newwish laser with a newwish one. Any help is appreciated!

The only way I know of is to take it apart, which is not easy.... Once the module is out if you look where the IR LD is pushed in it will be engraved around the back face of the module....under the glue :)

Is there any way of figuring this out without opening the laser? I've heard something about the size of the opening on the nose.

Normaly if its a newwish it says newwish on the instruction manuel that comes with it, and at the front of a real newwish laser it is slightly sloped down to the aperature, not just a straight drop from the body to the aperature but it slopes like a hill.

...lazer... ;D ;D ;D

You made big mistake by ordering that :(. I would suggest 2x30mW which is absolutely better..

Oh sorry i thought for sure they did musta been wrong. Since were on the topic of newwish lasers i just got a true 5 and it will pop baloons within 5 sec, talk about overpowered and it runs fine no mode hopping or anything. I almost like the feel of it better than my nova laser i like the black rubber coating around it and it has alot of weight to it.

Well i got my laser about a week ago and its great! ;D It pops balloons really good but NEEDS sharpie. The beam at night is real visible. Somethings weird though, if i leave it alone for like an hour and a half and turn it on, its extremely bright for like 5 seconds and lights a match from a foot away literally in under a second. It will also sting my skin to where it hurts REALLY bad. it seems like its peeking at over 100mW for a few seconds! oh well it doesn't bother me i got a match lighter! and I've been using it constantly maybe a few hours total on time and its going strong with no signs of deterioration.
