new user with a new laser! just after some info

hey guys, my names Daryl and im from New Zealand

i just purchased my second green laser .. i had a "50mw" which was probably high output IR reading.

so now i have purchased "SOLID: 50mW Class Green Laser" from Odicforce - this one tested considerably brighter than the Romisen lasers and gave a reading of 61mw with IR filter.

i tried to post a link but since ive posted under 10 posts, it wont let me .. its the SOLID 50 on odicforce - how reputable are these guys ? they were a dream to deal with and provided me with lots of useful info
just a question in relation to modding it via potentiometer - can anyone provide me instructions on how to do this ?

also .. im assuming this affects the life of the laser, and the battery life cycle as well ? would this be a fair assumption?

what sort of power increase would be possible by doing this roughly, would i be able to hit 100mw ? and how reliable of a laser would this be ..

is there much point in performing this mod ? i just want it for cool balloon popping tricks, and alhough it currently pops them with no issues, id like it to be faster - and from what ive seen on videos, the difference in speed from a 50mw to 100mw for balloon popping is greatly noticeable.

and green looks cooler than red i understand r ed lasers pop matt black balloons faster, or am i mislead ?

Well I've never had any experience with this laser, but I can tell you that modding it may or may not give you any more power it may even reduce power, it will also shorten the lasers life significantly, if you want more power you just have to pay for it. Also red probably only pops black balloons faster because burning red lasers are usually focusable allowing for a smaller dot size, so yes 100mW of green wont pop as fast as 100mW of focused red, but if the green was focused then there wont be much difference, infact there probably isnt much difference anyway.

They even sell the dilda and some red modules from DX ;D

Wow, that site fails. It's like they just took Deal Extreme's price numbers and sell them in British pounds--which is 2x the dollar. Just buy the same thing at Deal Extreme.

well i purchased the laser, which is listed on DealExtreme as 50mW Flashlight-Style Green Laser - Non-Focusable (CR123A Battery Included) from odicforce

i live in new zealand. its listed at $38USD on dexlextreme which is just over $50NZ .. paid $55NZ for it + 15NZ courier (tracked and traced to my door) .. so $70nz, which is $54USD .. i dont mind paying a tad more for the EXCELLENT customer service they provided me with
