And also, as to your beloved Suzie or Faona, I can pretty much guarantee that it is some dude named Zan Lee or some other Chinese crap.
I'm not trying to start anything here. Just clearing the air.

The quoted statement (Pontiacg5's) above is incorrect.
Susie is the "americanized" nick for Xu Jinmiao, chosen because that's how you say her first name "Xu" = Sue

Faona (don't know her Chinese first name) is totally a chick, not a dude.
I have attached a small pic of her. :D

It's pointless to quarrel about the rayfoss issue, and they're a reseller of a unknown laser makers and also PSP reselllers, and I bet they don't produce laser, PSP or other items on sale. It's okay, coz DL is also a reseller as well. Why make the fuss. The resell a variety of lasers from China, and some are okay, some are not. But their supplier claimed and guaranteed their lasers are perfectly okay before shipping. So don't blame rayfoss and they just want the highest profit from the existing cheap lasers in the China land. If anyone wanna know who the manufacturers of the specific lasers at their website are, I will research for you but I don't think it necessary, right?

It's more pointless to take Ms Faona personally, and she's just an employed customer support by the boss of this Rayfoss shop. She does the support work well and she need to work and live. She also hope Rayfoss could resell better models and make her work easier, but she's out of control, or even Rayfoss's boss is out of control, coz they know little about the lasers but they know the lasers can sell and make money in English market. That's ENOUGH. They think they don't have to know much or have the facility to test, coz they don't think it necessary while their 'variety' of suppliers would promise to test for them. Nobody deny both Faona or Susie are nice persons and they just do their work for the boss stuff.

My purchase experiences tell me that Andy at Laserpointerpen.net are the superb customer support so far and he's nice, kind and generous and offered me discount, goggles and free shipping, etc. BUT WHO CARES? Andy, Faona, or Susie or poor jack are just employed workers and they're not pros and they cannot control the quality either. I suggest leave all of these personas alone if we're talking about the quality products.

If there is any 'lie' at this issue, we can just guess the Rayfoss was 'cheated' by their suppliers. But to them, the profit they could make means more than the price they have to pay by being cheated. Anyway, not all lasers they resell are bad. Just like they cannot guarantee all the portable electronics like PSP are good and they just ship the PSP or lasers back their suppliers for repair or replacement. BTW, who bought the psp from them? PSP are available in most retail shops in China, some boss claiming they're smuggled goods, while some promising they're just duplicates. Who knows.

Just don't blame them and they're just a small shop at any corner of a grocery shop or supermarket in China. :)

Thats all nice and true, but rayfoss should not guarantee that their lasers are going to be up to spec when they are not. If they want to guarantee that the laser is 200mW they either need to get a better supplier, or lower the specs of the laser to represent what it actually is.

And If they are going to give promises, such as a IR filter to be installed or batteries and chargers to be sent with the laser then they should do so. In my opinion rayfoss will say whatever it takes to get you to buy the laser. They know that you will probably not go through all the trouble to return it. Those of us on this forum are lucky enough to get this information before we buy a laser, but random people who buy lasers from them without seeing this forum will think they are getting a 200mW laser, when in reality they are getting a 100-130mW laser.

They are preying on the misinformed or underinfored. I think that is very bad business tactics. Sure, the laser might be a good deal, 100mW of green for $130 bucks, but it should not be advertised as a 200mW green laser because it is not!

Just think about some what-if's for a moment...

If someone sells you a car and says it has antilock brakes, do you actually check? Most people would not know what to look for and would go on driving as if they had ABS. Now, that person is in a situation where he needs to use his ABS brakes. Knowing he has ABS, he floors the pedal and keeps it there. Unfortunately for him the car salesman lied and he actually does not have ABS. That poor bastard slides right into a crash. If he knew it didn't have ABS he could have pumped the pedal and avoided a crash. The car was so cheap he probably still would have bought it if it didn't have ABS but the salesman just wanted a sale and really didn't care what happened to that guy anyway. That salesman would be sued and probably jailed!

Now, you have a laser buyer. He knows an IR filter is something a laser really needs to be safe with only 1 pair of goggles. He asks rayfoss to put an IR filter on his laser and they agree to do so. This guy goes out and puts on his green safety glasses thinking his laser has an IR filter. He shines that 100mW of green and 80mW of IR at a match from close range. The goggles stop the green, but the IR goes through unnoticed. He looses some vision, temporarily or permanently, but the sad part is it could have been avoided.

Rayfoss could have said, "were sorry we cant put an IR filter on" and they guy could have got one somewhere else or took the right precautions. He probably still would have bought the rayfoss laser, but rayfoss doesn't care. They made the deal and thats that.

I don't understand why more people are not mad about that, being underpowered is one thing, but telling someone safety devices were installed when they weren't is unacceptable to me.

Cam, if you do decide to get that laser, you need to check it for IR. I wouldn't be surprised if it half IR like the rest of Rayfoss' lasers. You can search and find a easy way to check with a digital camera or something similar.

Well said! One of the most insightful and unbiased comment I've read in this forum these days.

These days I've read too much reviews, in which the reviewers only lists the pics of the model and the beam but no no no tests. God knows even the poorest duplicates are not that bad-looking. If the buyers only takes the cheap lasers you received as toys and think the lasers works well as toys and worth the small sum of $$$ you paid, i guess the overstatement in the reviews are misleading enough for other newies, who probaby has 'higher' expectation for a laser.

That's why i've had around eight laser pens and portables but i only wrote one review since the LPM is not often available to me, in addition to the fact that four or five lasers i owned are just crappy enough though they also don't have the worse beam.:)

@pontiacg5 (don't wana quote that whole thing) I just want to thank you for finally posting a good post that actually provides useful information without being biased or calling me names. I would have reped you but for some reason it says I can't.

I read it all but other than the above, I have no further comment.
