Thanks Richie and Red, appreciate the kind words! :yh:

Curtis, I thought I was the last one to get mine up and running! ;)

Edit: Thanks Rich, I must have been typing while you were posting, glad you like it.

Hi BT,
I have quite a few of those 505nm diodes and mine are case neg not case pos.

Very nice build and great photos of the process and beam shots, Jeff. I can't rep you again so soon, but I'm sure I will when allowed again. :thanks:

Sorry for not replying all afternoon, guys.

@BobMc - Thanks so much Bob, coming from a laser museum curator, your comment means a lot! :D

@Gazen - Thanks, I think some of those photos are pretty close to what I see, although you can see variations between the pics.

@RA_pierce - Yeah, it looks like everyone sees them a bit diffrently, I wish cameras would do a better job at reproducing the wavelengths accurately.

@badscr - Appreciate the comment, don't worry about rep, just glad you like it! :yh:

@Lifetime - IIRC, the SB1573N91 is the only one that is case positive, Paul or someone else could probably answer more accurately.

@RB Astro - I love it, that video brings back old memories, I remember T.C. very well, I used to watch it all the time! That tells you how old I am.

@Paul - Thank you Paul, you already rep me more than enough! :yh:

@Mattronium - Thank you sir, I like them too, they didn't turn out too bad.

Oh yeah, the good ole days, we used to come home from school and watch cartoons, now the kids come home and shoot & kill as much as they can in video games!

I know you will, but be sure and show us your 505nm beauty when you build it. :yh:

All of the 505nm Sharp diodes are either case positive or case neutral, not case negative. Of the case neutral ones, only the SB1473N91s are less than 505nm. The other two case neutral diodes, SB147EC91 and SB147EB91 are all above 505nm. The rest, SB1573N91, SB217HL91 and SB217HN91 are all case positive. Hope this clears that up for everyone.

Great write-up, BTG!! Super clean build, and I liked seeing the exploded view, shows how much thought and consideration you put into different aspects.

And the beams!!

Man, I really enjoy the sub-505s. Paul, that comment helps immensly!

Hi Paul
Yes thank you there were a few variations of that diode. Appreciate. Greatly for those wise words of info. Sometime can’t keep up with all of them .

Paul is a great pool of knowledge to go to for most new diodes, as he is just one of the members here who generously took the time to test and analyse these for us. It's much appreciated, that also goes to the others who also did the same.

Thanks, guys. It is my pleasure to do all I can to further knowledge on the forums. I kept a log of all the diodes I have tested so I could refer to them at any time. Sharp has been a godsend of new wavelength diodes over the past ten months or so.

Well, as long as you know your work is appreciated. And as for Sharp. They have had some excellent new diode wavelengths.
