Well 164 apparently.

I've had it a couple of months now, and whilst it is awesome, I guess maybe I just expected it to be a little...better.

I tried popping a balloon at maybe half a meter away - literally took ~20 seconds...that's not very good really.

Anyway that said it goes far, beam is bright, lights a match etc etc

Here is a short video of me using it YouTube - Optotronics Green Laser at night

To clarify this isn't a review as such, just my musings on the laser.

But whatever, I give it a 7.5/10

I did not!

Even if I had anyway, the divergence would've been to great to have caused any damage whatsoever.

Make sure it's a red or black balloon and that the beam spot is kept on the same spot on the balloon.
Also use fresh duracell or everready AAA alkaline cells.
Don't use AAA everready or duracell lithium cells, I don't know why, perhaps current load or battery impedance; but the AAA lithium cells in our 150mw pen pointers will give you about 20-25mw less output power than nornmal alkaline batteries.

hi bootleg.... i would know if is good to use 2 normal nimh batteries in your pens. you know most laser enthsusiast user rechargeable battery..... but... a nimh is fully charged at 1.4v... and then rest at 1.3....1.28 for the most time of the life. is it ok for the power?

NO ONE is testing the mw power of laser pen... between alkalines or nimh. we know alkalines are GREAT only in their first 30% of life.. then the voltage decrease.... and is like a nimh battery.

that would be GREAT if you can provede us just to know.... what power can have a tested 150mw.....(with 1.5v)... using a nimh at about 1.3v( that is the average volt of nimg) please.... can you do this test? so we can know that a 150mw pen... is in real using with nimh about 130...120mw ( numbers for example)

thanks

I think maybe is your balloon's color. I can use my green laser pop a red balloon but i can't do it with the green one. So color does matter.

Nice laser, but keep it off the other houses, even if there is no damage it is still harrassing them, and that is going to get you in trouble...

Oh... For $160 why not get a opto 120+ NEW? that would be 130-140mW AVG... Or save a bit more and get the 150+ for $190?

How old are you? I mean basing responsability on age is a bit dumb, but still?

15, but realistically speaking atleast 30-40% of this forum are "underage" I mean i know like 5- 10 people the top of my head the same age as me, owning about 5 lasers, I mean I own 5- 6 lasers my self, and I'm highly responsible. funny thing is that Jack got me, but he wouldn't knw the difference for all the other people, like I know a kid younger than me who bought from opto.

There are plenty of Chinese vendors out there who will sell you anything you want.. you could be 5 years old, as long as you have the money....

Maybe consider one of these.. add the IR filter glass yourself assuming it matters to you?
