Every night I make sure to return it to the foam case where I KNOW it won't roll anywhere.

Well last night I forgot and it went on the floor 4 feet below and rolled out my room into the hall. I has crashed from a caffeine overdose and I didn't notice it till morning.

results:
NO ARTIFACTS DETECTED ;D
Clickie not workie...sort of
the Laser will not engage pointed straight down, horizontally, or vertically. All other angles are fine, but inconsistent and will fade in or out in between. I shorted the battery to the body using a flat tipped screwdriver and the laser works in all directions. So I know for sure the driver isn't the issue, but shipping the laser internationally for a faulty clickie sounds a bit... I don't know...excessive?

I'm inclined to think the fall somehow dented a contact here or there. I was wondering what is the extent of the warranty against user-caused [not of manufacturer defect] issues?

I don't think there is a warranty to cover accidental damage.
The clicky is pretty easy to take apart though, and you may be able to repair it yourself.

All you need to do is unscrew the brass nut that holds the whole thing together. You may be able to use a penny to unscrew it (you have to push down the spring).

You can also check to make sure that the module is making proper contact with the case. The top unscrews and the module is threaded into it.

If it is irreparable you can always purchase a new tailcap clicky for it from Laserglow. They would probably charge you about $5-10 plus shipping.
Not too bad.

It's possible that you have compressed one of the battery springs and now there is not enough spring pressure on the battery in some orientations. Use some pliers and very gently stretch out the battery spring on the endcap so it's a few mm longer. This should increase the pressure holding the battery in place and it should help with the intermittent connection.

Thanks for the info Justin,

Since the cathode end of a CR123A is slightly recessed it can also retain a small disc rare-earth magnet if I placed it on the battery. This managed to solve the issue...temporarily, occasionally I still have to unscrew the tail completely then reinstall for it to function without excessive tapping.

I'll try toggling the spring next ;)

pierce, did you say Brass? the slotted retaining ring for my tail is white colored plastic, and it appears glued.

Be careful if you put a magnet on the spring. You don't want it to touch the case. It could cause a short and that can be very bad for the batteries.
Hmmm... Maybe it's different on the newer models. Could you take a picture?

And theres the wee magnet on the end of a CR123A...being that the laser is powered from the (-) facing towards the front, the battery liner keeps the magnet from shorting to the sides

Let me know if 800x600 is too small...I have them at 1600x1200...just not hosted at that dimension

well, I took the head apart...the threads were gummy. Horrifically gummy, are you sure this is supposed to come apart?

I had the "glue" cleaned off using a toothbrush and some alcohol and now it works fabulously

I just bought a Lyra-C for the gf, hopefully she will like it
