My C6 to S4 532nm Laser

OK so I had a C6 host laying around since one of my PHR diodes died, and when browsing around FASTTECH.com i seen them selling a 50mw green module for $10.39 and figured I'd give it a try as I was already ordering some battery's and other stuff. So it showed up last night so i started building.

My first obstacle was that the heasink was anodized so the module was isolated from the host so i had to come up with a way to get power to the driver. So what I did was soldered a piece of silicon wire to the driver. That way I could run the wire to the Pill to get power from the host. I also had to drill out the pill to make room for the driver to fit though. I also Soldered a spring to the driver for the Ground then used shrink tube to keep it all from shorting out. I also had to short out the switch as the C6 has a tail switch that i'm going to be using rather then the switch on the driver.

Then I just put it together just like a normal laser and it went together very easy. To power the module I'm running it off one 16340.

My First test when all together gave me an output of 70mw on the dot, and it was very stable. So then I decided to take it back apart and turn it up a bit and see where it was still stable and didn't give me any startup issues. This it what it ended up at.

Very nice! What type of lens is that on the front, and how are you using a 16340 battery? with a dummy?

Re: My C6 532nm Laser

just the standard lens from a 532nm module, nothing fancy. and for the for the cell its just one 16340, what i did was run a kinda long spring for the ground, and there is also a spring in the tailcap so the 16340 fits in there perfectly. also you have to Remember that the green module's are pretty long so an 18650 wouldn't work unless I could get another section that sits behind the heatsink.

Re: My C6 532nm Laser

The spring is sticking so far inside the C6 host that there is just room for one 16340 cell.
I am surprise that these $10 green module can potmodded.

Good build btw. :)

Re: My C6 532nm Laser

My green module was harvested from a Leadlight pen. It has a nice chrome front and the laser takes one 18650 cell. :)

O see i thought that it was some sort of cap or something that just made it look nice. Might have to contact Mrcrouse and see if he can make me something. I'm not really worried about being able to focus it just want something i can screw on it to make it look more finished.

You make me curious about the green module. I have order a green module too. Use "BLF" for a 5% discount on light and battery products.

Re: My C6 532nm Laser

i used "LAUNCH" and got 10% if i'm not mistake!

Edit: it's 5% as well brings it down to only $9.87. thats a complete steal for a module that is very stable at 90mw.

Re: My C6 532nm Laser

I've made a nice little greenie in a C6 host and came up with a nice way of hiding the protruding end of the green module.

WOW, I'm jealous! That looks amazing! with something like that you could probably let the module hang outside the heatsink some more and easily fit an 18650.

We certainly could make something that would work well for you. Let me know if you are interested.

I've actually moved it from the c6 to and s4 now. But still might need something to finish it up.

Re: My C6 532nm Laser

Why don't you use a smaller battery, like a rcr123? My module fits perfectly inside my c6 granted I use the smaller batt... see photos in my sig...

A cr123 is a 16340, just that a 16340 is a rechargeable lithium ion.
