So, what does everyone think? Do I hear cries of "BS"? Claims to have a 5W pump diode, but for $1850 I'm sure as hell not ponying up to verify...
Yes,
It's for sure "BS"
5 Watt diode, I think not. A 5 Watt diode will draw 4 to 5 amps of current, way too much for an 18650 cell to source for more than a few seconds. A 5 Watt diode to going to need some serious active cooling as well as passive cooling like a fan running full time.

The thing is that it's not really Maxon techologies fault, they are just listing the same "BS" that some unscrupulous China retailer who they are an affiliate of gave them.

It would be cool if someone here with an accurate meter would buy one just to test and review on the LPF; They would for sure be able to retun it for a refund I would think as there is now way that laser is going output 600mW of 532nm. Maybe there's a small chance it'll do 600mW for about 1 second on a fully charged battery and IR output is included in the total.

It looks like all their high powered lasers have a "1-2 Week" wait before shipping...What this means is they don't stock any at all and you can expect the wait to be even longer than 1-2 weeks.

If anyone decides to try them out, call and ask some questions like.
1. Do they personally test output power and guarantee an average 600mW of 532nm (no IR) and what amount of time they will average 600mW before cooling is needed.
2. How do they get an 18650 cell to source enough current for a 5 Watt doide and how can they even run this much power without active cooling? Are they really sure it's using a 5Watt diode?
3. Will they issue a full refund if they laser does not average 600mW of 532nm for the amount time that they answer to question number 2.

Sorry for the rant, it just really pisses me off when some of these places make totally false claims just to get themselves a sale on a POS product!

I actually own Maxson Technologies and I can assure you it's not a scam. It's a part time business..but anyway... I would love to get some experts opinion on this item. I have sold a few of them and there have been no requests for returns. BUT, that being said I do not have the equipment to test it. The manufacturer assures me it has a 5-watt pump diode, and the output is +/- 30mw.

But if anyone here would like to try it, and post results here I am willing to issue a coupon code for 40% off the purchase price for the 600, 500, and 400mw ones. Use this code: laserforum

As for the freeshipping truck, that is a stock graphic that volusion e-commerce system uses. I can change it if you want  ;D

If anyone can thinking of any information I should ask the manufacturer, post it here and I will find out.
Hi Highamperage,
I didn't see this post until after I commented on the original post of this thread.
Yes, you could ask your source the questions I listed in my post; just no way those have 5Watt diodes in them. Like I said, it's not your fault, you're just repeating what they tell you and what they are doing is stretching the truth in a major way.

Here's a link to a post I made awhile back listing some questions to ask before ordering from some of those retailers in China that advertise what seems to be such a great deal.

Ok, so I will check on the following information…
• Peak Output Power vs Average (Maybe get a graph over time if possible)
• Check if rated output is pure 532nm or a mix of green and IR
• Duty Cycle (Although I believe it was 90 seconds)
• Divergence (Although I think it’s 1.1mrad)

They do not have IR filters.
Warranty is 1 year

5 amps is what they said it draws. It seems those 18650 batteries are 2500mah, so that would be a 2C rate… That seems possible, although admittedly hard on the battery.

Also, I have considered the heating and current issues and have considered building my own lasers using a thermoelectric cooling system to actively cool the module, and higher capacity/higher discharge batteries.  Do you have any thoughts on that?

Ok. Thanks for the information!

Also, I was considering building some high powered lasers (200-500mw) that uses thermoelectric cooling/heating to keep the module at optimum temperature... to help with output stability and allow for continuous use...

Any thoughts on that?

Can't help you there... We don't build lasers for resale at the present time..

How can you be selling a 600mW green laser without IR filter, this is just a eye killer lol.

If its 600mW green+IR it's just a scam
if it's 600mW pure green then how many IR is coming out? 1W laser at all?

Correct me if I am wrong but I smell scam so hard xd

I applaud the owner for coming on the forum and allowing himself to be pestered by us laser lovers. Like I said in a previous thread, he was always courteous and honest when he answered my questions but they were not the answers I was looking for. I hope you get the straight answers from the manufacturer so at least you will be able to truthfully back up the products you sell or correct the errors in their descriptions. Report back what they tell you :)

I agree with WackBag....
the Seller is not hiding and ignoring the onslaught of questions....
or the name calling...
He is not the manufacturer..... but a re-seller of a product... he is relaying information that
the manufacturer supplied... If that information is not correct... then it is the manufacturer's
fault (agreed... he should know and test the product he is selling).
He has not lied about the IR filter... he has been honest and up front up to now... Calling
him a scammer (without proof) is not a positive or an incentive for him to keep the lines
of communication open... IMHO

The only negative I can see is the price of the product and the untested output of said laser.

talking about pissing off..

i dont know enough about high-power green handhelds to discuss directly. but you, jack, already annoy me with this first post i conciously read. he [seller] already told us he isnt the manufacturer. he offers 40% discount. he asks for suggestions. answers honestly (about non-ir-filter for example). in short, does anything reasonable to make us happy.
granted, you seem to have posted before having read the whole thread. wait, after around one page was already posted and the seller made several posts?
oh, wait, now i found your signature. so you are selling high-powered lasers yourself? interesting indeed.

if nothing else: choose your words with more care. i dont find fecal comparisons and callings appropriate in such a case.

highamperage:
welcome aboard! is good to have manufaturers and sellers (in your case) here to keep in touch! close touch, as you found out, i hope you dont mind? ;-)
you have my respect for staying calm and cool in such a thread.
and finally: want to go even deeper? there are many ideas and concepts floating around here. it would only need someone capable of serious business with them to get some nice projects and business going! the marked is here too, with threads in buy/sell/trade with over 50 pages :)

and last: get a laser powermeter! if you have *any* (private) interest in lasers, it will be a great tool!

It is sooo very hard to incorporate a TEC into a handheld laser. Mainly the problem lies in as the TEC pulls the heat from the cold to the hot side of the TEC, the hot side of the TEC then needs to be cooled just as whatever your hooking your TEC to needs to be cooled. If you then hook that to the head of the laser, that means that heat is then redistributed back into the module which defeats the point of using the TEC.

If you want to waste your money - buy this 600mW laser. I would not recommend it, there are better lasers to spend our money for [madlasers, laserglow, novalasers, opto]. Regards

I smelt it. How could he resell 600mW handheld green laser and we didnt know they even existed. And what's even funnier: No IR filter.

Then if its 600mW of pure green there must be exaclty 4.4W of IR going out. I hope noone test what the brightness is becase he will go blind.

Yours,
Hallucynogneyc
