I have a green laser that has max output power 5000 mW and wavelength 532 NM (+-) 10. So I was wondering if this can burn and how long it would take .

Hi,
your numbers are a little off, 5000mW's =5W's to my knowledge there is no such 532nm diode that can do that , that i know about . Maybe some one else can chime in that know more about the 532nm WL..

Unfortunately, that label is faked.
What you have there is a standard 301 laser. This kind of product typically lines up somewhere between 30-100mW. A laser like that can pop balloons, or mark dark objects, or possibly light dark matches, but not much else. A real 5000mW 532nm laser would cost you several thousand dollars.

Now that I have found out about my laser,can someone point me in the direction on what to look for and where to get a half decent burning laser

And I agree with the others the absolute max output of that laser is at most 150mW. It may help you understand why it can't be a 5W laser by explaining the process to make it. 532nm is a DPSS-SHG wavelength. DPSS stands for diode pumped solid state, and it s process is exactly that. An IR diode of 808nm pumps a ND:YVO4 crystal to produce a 1064nm IR beam. Crystals are a solid-state lasing medium. After the production of 1064nm, you need a SHG crystal. SHG stands for second harmonic generation. In simple terms, the second harmonic is double the frequency of the input beam. This is the same as saying it is half the wavelength. The SHG crystal used in common pointers is KTP. The input beam of 1064nm is frequency doubled to produce the green 532nm output you see. The whole process is around 20-30% efficient. So if you assume that your output power is 5W, then the original 808nm input power would have to be around 25W. To put it bluntly, your single 18650 would not be adequate to power a 25W IR diode, and neither would the cooling within the laser head be up to spec. These pointers are probably less efficient at 15%, and at most have a 1W 808 diode, so the output power would correlate at a max of 150mW.
