I have someone thats local selling an apparent, '1000mW' green laser... Is there any way to tell if its an actual 1000mW laser from these pictures?

If it's not, any idea what it looks to be? :thinking:

Whats the listing price?

One thing for sure is that it is probably not 1000mw. As far as I know, the only laser to break the 1W mark in a size of a handheld simular to the pictures would be the Jetlasers PL-C 600 from a very overspec unit. (A legitimate company btw). (there are other lasers, but they are bigger hosts, example: laserglow sells some IIRC)

Only way to truelly tell would be via an LPM (laser power meter).
And pictures themselves can be decieving to its brightness and power from different camera settings, exposure duration, etc.

From the pictures though, assuming they are accurate, Id guesstimate 200mw-300mw is the real power.

He was asking 150... which I think would be a decent price had it of been an actual 1000mW laser..

And yeah I've seen those before, how ever I don't have access to one...

But on the label, it says <1000mW... is there any significance to that?

Yeah.. its definatly not a 1000mw for 150$

Yeah, the label can have significance, <1000mw means under 1000mw. so It can be 1mw for all they care and its still complaint to the label :D
Also, according to the label its a Class iiiB laser product.... anything over 500mw is considered class 4.

Yeah, it is more likly to be 200mw-300mw at maximum... I won't buy it if I were you.

Then again, $150 for 200-300mW of power is actually a good price.... Especially considering it's local, you can check it out before you purchase just to make sure you are happy.

Yeah, regardless, I think I'm going to take the 10 minute drive to check it out...

Most 150mW 532's are going for about 130 new plus shipping... so being a 200-300mW for 150 isnt TOO bad i'd imagine.

If anything, I'll either order from rayfoss or even check out the forums

I appreciate the help guys, thanks.

am I the only one who noticed that the label says: WALELENGTH and EROM ??? and DRIECT
ahahaha and AVOIO :D:D :crackup::crackup:
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:drool::crackup::crackup:

I would certainly not trust the output with this kind of spelling ... it might be 100mW with a typo :D

Yeah I was a bit sketchy about that as well... And the fact that it says 'EROM'.. and not FROM.. and there is no 'i' in emitted....

Regardless, I'll check it out. He sent another picture just now as well.. let me upload it, maybe it'll help on determining what style/brand/whatever kind of laser it is..

1. That is definitely not a 1W.
2. For 150 dollars chances are the most you will get if you're lucky is 150-250mW
3. The fact that he is advertising them as 1W when he is blatantly lying means you shouldn't give him your money and allow him to keep doing business. You may know its fake but others won't.
4. If I am going to be ripped off I at least want my warning sticker spelled correctly.
5. Look at it this way. Why put money into the hands of a dishonest seller who takes advantage of people who don't know much about lasers when you could put money into the hands of someone who tells you the truth and has put real workmanship into the lasers they sell, such as some of the sellers on this forum or people associated with it.

QFT

Who cares if it makes 300mW (which would be a very good for $150) The guy is a blatant liar. If people keep buying his lasers because "it's good enough for $150" he is going to keep lying to sell the damn things.
