Hello!

I just purchased a 150mW green laser module on impulse, the driver is already soldered to it and there is a spring (I ordered it on lazerer) and I want to put it in a handheld.. How do I do? It's my first build and the only tutorials here shows how to do it with blue lasers, not when you have a complete module..

I ordered a special model so it doesn't have a button/switch on the driver, do I need one? Where can I buy hosts which fits the module? Can I make it focusable ?

"Working Voltage:3.0V-3.6V
Working current: I<280mA"

What batteries are those?

Thanks.

You need a pen host like the NewWish host. The module is made for this kind of host.
It is possible to put it in every other host but you need a bit fiddling and tinkering.
Just remember that the brass module is battery+ and the spring is battery-.
The battery is 2x AAA.

Is it that easy? So I just buy one of those pens, put in my module, screw on the front, put in two batteries and screw on the back and poff, it works? That easy? Wow I could never imagine that. And the 150mW green module just cost me 49.95.. But the switch? When I check the picture on lazerer, there is some sort of switch soldered to the driver, but he said that my module won't have that.. Do I need one?

Thanks.

He doesn't need a newwish type host since he already stated his module doesn't have a button on the driver so he'll need a host with an end clicky instead. 'Generally' (but not always) these are 11.9 or 12mm, and will work in heatsinks made for aixiz modules, but due to the length, you either need a long host, or use short batteries.

Hmm... How do you think I should do it? What kind of host do you talk about? Can't I use a newwish pen?

Thank you for your help.

You can solder a button on the driver. This kind of a driver has a empty space on the pcb. If you look good at this space is a wire connected between two points. remove the wire and replace with a button.

Where can I get the button/switch?

Thank you.

Do you have old laserpens or something ? Or a DVD/CD drive have some buttons on the pcb.

I have a small shock + red laser pointer (mini) from dealextreme which has buttons.. Are there switches under them? The batteries of it has ended and the batteries cost more then the laser so yeah, I can take it apart..

I also have a couple of wickedlasers (got them for free :D) but I don't know if I wanna part with them.

thanks.

Hey how did you get a special module with no button -that is exactly what I an looking for.

What you can do its desolder the driver and solder some flexible short wires in between the dpss and the driver. This will allow you to turn it horizontal so it fits into a flash light kit like the cree aurora c6

The buttons really not a big deal. You can either remove them totally and solder on a jumper, or just use a piece of wire to jumper the switch without removing it.

FYI. if you have a 3V module, and want to use it with a 3.6v Li-Ion, your 'jumper' can be a diode, which will drop the voltage the driver sees by roughly .7 or .8V. This is needed since most 3v modules do NOT like a 4.2v input for very long.
