I want to build a green laser completely myself, using a olike module. I dont need a burning green, just one with a highly visible beam. What host should i use? and what power module should i buy? do the module come with drivers? and is heat sinking neccassary for <50mw?
ps-what minimum voltage do i need to power a <50mw module

Any ledlight host will do, just keep the button switch and use it with your module. The module is up to you, but looking at the dot of +30mW from closer than 10' away will cause eye damge. This will probably give you ~50 (If you're set on getting an O-like module...). It should work with 2 AAAs (3.0V).

The better you can heatsink these green modules, the better it will run...

If you have not seen my DIY Green Kit, check out how the heatsink is done. A combination of the heatsink, pill contact, and host, make my kit a great host for these green modules with great heatsinking for the module! ;)

In that post, there are recommendations for a couple of battery options. (see the notes under 'Tips', right above the pictures of the battery)
