I just reveived my DX 5mw green today and it is so cool! I already have a burner red so I'm not worried about a green burning.

But I wanted to see what would happen when I put my Aixiz lens from me red in front of my 5mw green. When focused at a tiny spot on the bag, IT ACTUALLY WENT THROUGH!! I was very supprised!. When you put the bag to a light, you can see a tiny hole. ;D

Its not much, but its a great achievement for a 5mw green!

ok now thats awesome. I love how it's soo bright the camera just kills that whole vertial row of pixels too =)

Good work, maybe you can build a lens holder to attach to the front to use as a burner just for giggles.

that is insane. have you ever actually measured the output of that thing? cuz it seems that it would be more than 5 mw

I don't have anyway of measering the output. I just focused it so close that it just lit!

Its a DX 5mw True green laser pen.

I'm using 2 rechargeable duracells with each one being rated at 1000mah.

My charger brings them up to 1.47 volts which is pretty good!

I just tried doing the same focusing with a cheap dollar store red laser lens. It actually works just like the Aixiz!!

since most of the DX lasers probably use the same components, my bet is any MCA crystal assemblies that don't make the cut for like the true 30mw end up in the 5mw lasers, so it's possible they could range anywhere from like 1-20mw

So what exactly makes the greens stronger then others?

Is it the crystals or the diode? :-/

probably both, from what i've seen the 5mw lasers draw the same current from the batteries which means they probably use the same pump diode, they just use the junkier crystals for the 5mw

DX 5mW are actually killer! ;D I got my 5mW to easily pop a balloon with a lens and tested it using a Coherent Field Mate to get a peak of over 15mW! It Steadied out around 13mW though. :

Well SenKat has a power meter, but he just had surgery, so maybe not him. Just ask around, im sure someone will do it for you. And thats a killer green there! ;D

is this normal for a really focused 5mw green?

Can someone else test an aixiz lens on there 5mw green also? You kinda have to focus it to the size of a pin tip


I don't understand how it could be this strong right from the package!

OH no I had read somewhere else that these were eye dangerous even tho they were 5mw, i put a thread asking how to reduce the power of it, now i know they can be pretty powerful and definantly not "eyesafe"...hopefully i will get an underpowered one.... yes i did just say hopefully i get and underpower laser :-/ :-?

Sorry but I don't see what the big deal is. He is using a lens... Idk for some reason anything done with a lens just seems unimpressive. I saw a video of a 1.2W green laser pop a balloon at 300 feet through a damn telescope. For some reason I really didn't find it a big deal. I find stuff impressive if it is done without a lense on it, I see the lense as cheating sort of. I could use a magnifing glass to burn a hole in a trashbag with the sun...It is much more impressive if it is done without anytype of lense because that actually shows the true power of the laser.

Yeah, but it's a 5 mW... it's not even supposed to burn through plastic, even with a lense.

Am I correct?

I always got the impression that 5 mW had very minmal burning power. minimal as in none.
