isnt that how all green lasers are made? i dont think there is an actual green laser. its just an ir going through a crystal and outputting green. it would probably be the cheapest way to get a high powered green laser. you could probably do this yourself for around $60 rather than buying one for a few hundred dollars. the main thing would be the crystal. with the dx lasers 30mw seems to be about the most efficient otherwise all the extra mw comes out as ir.

There is a big IR diode, the IR light passes through two crystals and it becomes green light. The reason no body makes green lasers is because the crystals are really difficult to align.

Yes that is how they are all made... It's why they are called DPSS lasers. But it goes through 2 crystals. And no, you can not do this yourself for $60. Maybe $600. 350mW of green is a lot, and the pieces necessary for that kind of output would be very expensive... KTP crystal, Nd:YVO4 crystal, Pump diode, IR filter, heat sink, maybe a TEC, a nice driver, lenses, power supply... A 5-20mW green might be more realistic for a couple hundred $$. But at that price... you may as well buy a leadlight for $40 and mod it. Building your own green laser is kinda impractical, but it would be good for learning experience.
