Just got it in today and I am FLABBERGASTED by the intensity!

I'm also surprised that I can pop a Sharpied balloon as I read on here that I would not be able to pop balloons with a 30mW. It popped from 6 inches away after about 1 second.

Am I pushing more power than 30mW?

Could be.....

Looks and sounds like you really got a Nice one....

Pick of the litter as it were!!

Did you get any laser goggles yet??

If you are going to be doing any upclose work ..laser glasses are a Must.

Even if you take the safety part out of the equation, laser glasses will make working with your laser even more enjoyable!!

You will actually be able to watch what you are doing!!!....

Welcome to the Forum!!

thanks for the welcome!

No I don't have goggles. At this power maybe I should invest in some! :D

I don't have an additional lens. I just tried it straight out of the box with a balloon that one of my kids blew up last night. The balloon was not even blown up all the way "tight" so I am still surprised that it popped!

I just hope that the performance does not go down with time.

well performance will go down pretty quick if you don't feed the laser new batteries alot! those DX lasers are very power hungry! otherwise if you teat them really well, they should last you a long time!

True, let us know how the ouput is after using the batteries for a couple of minutes.

Well I played with this thing alot last night at work. We have very bright fluorescent lighting at work and this thing was STILL brilliantly bright with even the beam clearly visible!

I still have not noticed any drop in performance and I am still using the batteries that came with it.

Be VERY careful with the batteries that come with it - they can unravel, and leak all over the inside of your new toy :( I physically destroyed the tailcap of one out of rage when the EFFING battery got lodged in there, and did not want to come out ! so I tore apart the end cao instead of the battery....not one of my brightest moments, mind you....LOL !
