Green upgrade for living room light show

Hi All

I want to upgrade my portable laser light show (American Dj Laser Widow).
Currently it has a 5mw red laser diode and Im thinking of replacing it with a 5mw or 10mw or 15mw green diode.

This laser light show creates tunnels, which look great with a fog machine. I like to stare at the center of the tunnels, however once in a while I will get hit with the red light in my eyes (for not even a second). This happened plenty of times.

Does getting hit for a split second with a powerful laser (15mw or 10mw) very dangerous for my eyes or no big deal (like in the case of my current 5mw red laser diode) ?

There is no good answer to your question. You may continue to be lucky and suffer no damage, or you may not.

Chances are, unless you're dealing with a very narrow, low divergence beam, 15mW will not do any damage from one hit. From repeated hits... there is no telling. A lot factors go into whether you sustain damage, and what kind of damage.

Even now you could have damage to your eyes and not even know it.

Don't gamble with your eyes. It's not worth it. When setting up, use goggles, and make sure laser beams and your eyes never cross paths.
