Girlfriend's dad looking for green laser for his gun?

I bought my girlfriend's dad a 30mW green laser before, he really liked it.. A LOT.
He was asking me about a green laser that he can put on his gun (the laser doesn't need to come with a mount, he has some already).
I told him that the green lasers use crystals, and the recoil of the gun could mess the laser up (which he already assumed).
Does anyone know any green lasers that are shock proof or can withstand the recoil of a gun? I know that if a laser is advertised as a "tactical" laser it's going to be much more expensive. Is there anything for $50 or under?

Edit: This o-like laser is advertised as "hunting" but that may not even mean anything:

I've got several of those on different guns and the internal models too, they are used by the FBI and many other LEO's; they really are worth the money.

Maybe for someone with an unlimited budget or Law enforcement..
But for the average Joe.. $400.00 is expensive...IMO

I could but 2 WL 1 Watt Artic Lasers for that price and may not even
need the firearm with 2 Watts of 445nm...:crackup:

A Gun is used as a last resort to save your Life, with a $1000.00 gun you will also want a Laser of equal quality that can assist you in that ever first important shot, you may not get a second chance.

Quality and absolute reliability is what is called for here, that combo is designed to save your life or someone your trying to protect; you can't put a price on that.

We're not star pointing or burning matches with these; these are mission critical devices, the mission? save your life!

No DX, or home brew Lasers will every match these or should be attempted for use on a Gun.

Do some reading on the subject and check out some of the Gun forums, this is really peanuts for gun owner's. I have a small fortunate in weapons and quality accessories, yet I know many others that can easily out match my stuff.

Go to a Gun Show and you'll be amazed then at what real quality Guns and accessories cost. How about IR Gun Lasers, or the ones that can switch the mode from Visible to IR.

Again check out some of the Gun Forums and the average Joe on those Forums will laugh at you when you balk about the price. There are more people into these than you might think, the Gun Shows around here for example are completely packed with people buying all of this stuff, so much so that depending on what time you arrive at the show, you have to wait to get in because it's full.

I know maybe 2-3 people around here that have a Laser(s) besides me, yet I know at least 100 people that have Guns with most of the trimmings, and if they don't they'll tell you their saving up for it.......gotta have it.

We're not talking paint ball here, that's a hobby like Lasers; Real High Quality Lasers that will not fail under impact, no cheap Chinese stuff for Guns, it's a whole different ball game.

hmm, i dunno, you'd probably get your first shot ok with any green lol. its the recoil of the first shot that'd be the problem, which would affect the 2nd. why dont you just put the green laser inside a larger host, and fill any remaining space with a shock absorbant gel?

Sorry for the stupid question, but are green laser that much more susceptible to shock compared to red lasers? I has a LaserMax guide rod laser for my Glock 26 and I can't see a laser taking any more shock than that (or heat for that matter). For those who are not into guns, the guide rod laser replaces the gun's guide rod. This is located directly below the barrel and the spring goes below it. The front of the slide (top part of a semi-auto pistol) travels rearward, over the guide rod with each shot. Guide rod lasers are much more susceptible to the recoil forces than grip lasers such as those made by Crimson Trace.

In my opinion a green laser on a weapon is not the best idea. The high visibility of the green beam, especially after the first shot in smoke filled air, gives away your position instantly. I use, and much prefer a red laser of <50mw. At 645nm-650nm and from 25mw-50mw the dot is plenty visible to the user, even in the day time outside, without the highly visible beam. In addition most red modules allow for focus adjustment giving better divergence than most green modules which are almost all fixed focus. Personally I have a red laser on my romanian Dragunov AK that has proven very successful. It has never shifted out of alignment despite the brutal shock of over 1000 rounds.

Do a search on the Forum or Google for DPSS Laser
construction Data...

They are not built the same as red Lasers...

@ electron....
I agree with you that if your purpose for the $400.00 Sight
was to put it on a gun that is used solely for Personal Protection...
I would go for the top of the line sight as well...
But if I need a sight for other reasons.. then I would go for a much
less expensive alternative... I can't see me putting a $400.00 Sight
on a $100.00 pellet gun...

You wouldn't need an expensive laser for a pellet gun. Even the high powered spring piston ones don't have much recoil.

Thanks for the links! of the lasers you've posted here it looks like the last one is the best (based on reviews)
DealExtreme: $41.14 LXGD JG-10 20mW Green Laser Sight with Gun Mount (1*CR2)
it is the most expensive but I'd say it's still worth it.
