I know I started another topic requesting info for 30 mW for ~$100 but that doesn't seem realistic.

Where can I buy an FDA approved 50 mW green laser pointer for under $200? I want something that can burn matches with a magnifying glass.

I'm guessing your in the us. The FDA banned all lasers greater than 5 mW however I live in the us and dealextreme shipped me a true 100 mW green and it amazing. It cost me 38 bucks. Worth the buys

My nova alpha 65 was under 200 bucks shipped... don't forget the discount code! (of course it's slipping my mind now, but look in the discount section and it's easy to find.

I keep hearing this stuff about all lasers over 5mW being banned, is this true? I thought it was just an issue with paypal, FDA, and DealExtreme. Ive got a couple lasers WELL over 5mW lol and i dont need someone showing up on my doorstep one day.

In respect to a laser to be under 200 bucks and be powerful enough to burn items, Susie sells excellent modules that put out anywhere between 50mW and 150mW for under 200 bucks. I bought one of her 100mW modules for 66 bucks +shipping. Shipping time is similar to DX's speed but well worth the wait, her products are great for the price. My 100 mW module does some nice burns with a mag glass. I'm going to get round to taking videos at one point or another.

The import and sale of any laser pointer over 5mW WITHOUT THE FDA REQUIRED SAFETY FEATURES AND NUMBER, has been illegal for some time.  The FDA just forced PayPal to stop funding these sales last year.

Peace,
