I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't. You can expect 38-48mW from a DX true 50mW, but I woud guess the untrues don't even do that.

Will it be better or worse than my dx true 30?

I don't recall ever seeing a test of the untrue DX lasers, so that's anyone's guess. Perhaps you can be our guinea pig? :D

You can wait forever and those non-true 50mW still won't ship. My order on 9/9 changed from packaging to processing contact for updates and hanging there in limbo. So you can leave it there for awhile unless they decide to ship to you before shipping to me!

Either, the unit doesn't pass QC(meaning DC QC) so they can't ship it out to customers and is being held up. That said, I think DX's laser QC consists of turning on the laser and comparing the dot brightness. So they go something like:

"Ooh that dot's much brighter than our 20mW or 30mW so it must be at least 50mW. Slap on that "Quick Check" sticker. I guess we can ship it out and hope they don't complain too much if it fails."
or
"It looks the same as our 30mW or weaker. We can't ship this. Wait this customer's probably a noob and can't be bothered to RMA it, let's ship it out anyway."

There have been many reports of the KaiDomain's non-true 50mW being less bright and poorer quality than the DX true 30mW.(They don't even bother to quick check) I have also read a few reports of the DX non true 50 mW being brighter than their 30mW.

I was also thinking of canceling my dx50 order but after waiting so long, I want to compare it to my dx30 true. Besides, there have been quite a few posts about dim dx30 true recently so maybe their quality is dropping together with their price. Tempted to get a few more true dx30s as gifts with the price drop but I'll wait on it.

Which DX are you thinking of getting? I can't speak for the new DX lasers lately but they seem to be similar to those made by snochina.com which has a RPL like laser for sale as well. Perhaps Snochina is the supplier for RPL but I don't know. Maybe they supply the Techlaser Skybolt but I don't know either. But they seem to supply the DX 80 rechargeable, the new pointers and the keychain versions and perhaps also the non-true versions and the CR2 pro version. Even the Ultrafire cr123 20mW flashlight version looks like the waterproof version they have on the snochina website.

Quality is probably sketchy as usual so I am holding back until more reviews. Maybe you want to wait abit as well.

Argh so many lasers to buy and not enough money to go around. :-/

Time to sell some stuff I guess. Anyone interested in 100mW rated red diode installed aixiz module tested to burn as well as the GB diode for $25 shipped?

DX is not the cheapest one. I found kaidomain.com has the same 50mW green laser for only $25.00 shipped. Haha...save a little money

You must remember that these are the same lasers that they sold for $31 before and many were found to be less bright that DX true 30mW. Perhaps Kai wised up and drop the price to compete with DX $26 non-true 50mW. I still wouldn't trust Billy though.

But Kai is a great guy. I have dealt with him before and he is very professional with his business dealings with good customer service.

Kai also has Aixiz like modules at $4 shipped

I wouldn't get it yet cos it uses CR2s and am concerned about Kai's ratings for their lasers. I started a thread in the deals section about their price drops.

*edit*
So I shot DX a price match email about their non true 50mW and boom next thing I know, my order status changed from processing to shipped before I even had the chance to cancel my order! Whatever happened to their few day packing period? I cannot help but get the bad feeling they just grabbed the nearest available unit and marked it as shipped to prevent me from canceling my order. Perhaps I shouldn't have been so smart ass and bothered them about it if waiting would've gotten me a better QC. Oh well, I'll see how it goes.
