I want to get a 200mw greenie from DX, I was wondering if anyone else has bought 1 of these and how it was with burning power, maybe someone has tested the output?

Read all of the complaints first. A lot of people are complaining about mode shifting, dimming, poor divergence, other problems. Imo dx is good for cheap <50mw lasers but I hear that most of their >100 mw lasers have severe QC issues.

Yeah... If you can save the money or are willing to pay Visa interest, then you might as well go for quality. I bought my DX200 before I found this forum, so I count myself among the lucky ones who have had good lasers from them. I've bought a 5mW, 30mW, 50mW and finally the 200mW. I was very concerned about a powerful laser that cost so little, but I take care of it by running 1.2v NiMh rechargeables in it most of the time, and it's been a wonderful laser for me.

Not everyone can afford a top quality laser, so DX certainly has it's place in the market, but if you're willing to pay for the best quality, then Optotronics or Laserglow are definitely good choices. A lot of folks around here like Nova as well, from what I read.

Whatever you choose, good luck and welcome to the hobby!

Cheers, CC

See my sig. My 200 beamsplits to TEM02 and puts out 115mw.
It gets mighty hot and draws 720mA though so I may labby-ify it to see if its any better.

DX= gamble, if you want a reliable laser, i would go nova, though DX is good for the price. You really cant tell what your gonna get with DX, nova, you know lots about what your gonna get, even with a fe suprises in there too relating to power..

Goldfinger, that doesn't mean it will be here by the end of the week. The free shipping from DX has been known to take weeks or months.

When I pay express shipping, I notice that DX ships it out quicker, I've received packages as soon as 1 week. And without paying express, never sooner the 3 weeks, and as late as 8 weeks. I ordered most of my Christmas gifs from DX, and tried to make a point of getting 300$ worth of goods in 1 month (I ordered it the last week of Nov.). They shipped in 4 separate increments with a little checklist of what was in the package, and what was remaining. I received all gifts but one before Christmas, (it was the package of (4) 14 led flash lights - which I was giving to 4 different people!) and I had to buy 4 gifts on Christmas Eve. I received the flashlights the second week of Jan. However, I did pay EMS and I did make contact with customer service and they tried their best. :'( Oh well!

um EMS increses your risk of getting your laser taken away greatly..... so if it does show up quicly it may not even be in the box

Damn, this sucks. I paid for EMS and checked the tracking it is in America as of 2/18 but that's all it says.
