Hi all, finally I have got a LPM! It's the DIY LPM from MarioMaster .After a successful breadboard test I wanted to solder it on a PCB. But somewhere I failed and I didn't found the mistake. So I just soldered the parts without a PCB together (the best way in my opinion ;) ).

Then I have calibrated it. I think it is calibrated right. It shows me with my spartan at full batteries something about 1020mW. My blu ray build peaked at about 467mW and my 635nm build at 501mW. Seems to be ok doesn't it?

But now I have tested my 300mW Skylaser. I know it is overspec, I have bought it from offroadfreak8582 (thx man! :) ). With ultrafire batteries I got 421mW stable output over some time and a 505mW peak for some seconds.

Because the batteries went empty quite fast I have connected a power supply.
It powers up the laser with about 3.9V. I think an ideal Voltage.
Now I have measured 625mW peak!

Can this be true?

I did a test again. There comes out 20mW to 37mW IR light.
After letting it cool down a bit I tryed it agan and get this!
My Spartan peaks at 1031mW and the skylaser even higher then the metering before.
My LPM told me it peaked at 781mW and dropped rapidly to 487mW and stays there. It went really hot so I turned it off to prevent overheat.

two pics:
sorry I was a bit shaky

My Spartan with fresh batteries:

the skylaser powered by a power supply:

could there be something wrong with my LPM?

EDIT: The sticker on the laser says the output is <500mW

If it's labeled <500mW and you are getting ~487mW I think that it's about right. Especially after you said that you are getting about ~30mW overspec from your spartan. It looks fine to me, but I'm no expert.

heey,

I see you got the batteries in :D I got a 517mW peak on my lpm two with this skylaser  And that was with the ultrafire batteries! So a higher output with a bench supply could be very possible.. If i were you i would buy some IMR AW 16340's for this laser. I got them in yesterday! Which was kinda dissapointing because i wanted to test them in the skylaser aswell but yeah wrong timing!

anyways if you want to be sure that your lpm works te right way you could send it to me so i can compare it with my lpm results with other lasers? Mine as calibrated by bluefan! Or if ou have a green pen pointer which is very stable do a measurement ship the laser and i do a measurement..

In anycase you won't be sure of youre readings unless you get it calibrated by someone!

greetings,,

EDIT: And yes the laser is IR filtered.. If it weren't IR filtered you would get a lot more IR! MY guess that if this weren't IR filtered you would have about 150-200mW IR (Look at this review here http://laserpointerforums.com/f52/review-skylasers-laserbtb-com-h532l-100b-100mw-16340-532nm-laser-72930.html)

He got 40mW of IR in a 200mW laser!!!

Thanks for the help :). I was just a bit confused about this. I think my lpm is calibrated quite ok. It has maybe an accuracy of <7%. Thats enough for me ^^.
