May I also add to LivinLoud's post about the Anser.

I own one and I have to say it's one of the best 5mW green pointers out there. Very high quality and feels very solid in the hand.

Mustang..please listen to us. We are only trying to help you out :)

Edit: Saw this too late. Then save up $60 to buy the 1mW Lyra from LaserGlow :p

I am and I would buy one but Australia's rules on importing lasers is anything over 1mW will be confiscated and destroyed that is why I am saying I need a 1mW and change to a 5mW since power is stronger but still not as much as a risk to the eyes.

Well forgot about that. You wont get those modules in to begin with. You are SOL man, it'll be cheaper for you to move out of AUS.

EDIT: you wont be able to get a 1mW and bump it to a 5mW. You will kill the laser withing 10 minutes of use

You can import modules over 1mW though but just not a battery powered hand held one

Yeah modules are allowed. Got in a violet module from Fasttech. (says 5mw, no idea what it actually is).
EDIT: Oh yeah forgot about this, but expect a looooong shipping time. Took mine a full month to arrive.

so he was talking about making a 1mW 532 into a 5mW (assuming by tuning the pot) to make it more visible and you suggest the LEAST visible wavelength to him  I don't get it at all

Not by pot mod by buying a 5mW green module.

I was demonstrating the fact that Australian customs does indeed allow modules, as evidenced by the fact that I had received a violet module over the 1mW limit myself. Not suggesting he buy it.

EDIT: Read over this and realised I sounded a little abrupt. No hostility meant or anything.

Australian Laws ONLY regulate battery operated handheld lasers. So in other words parts are 100% legal, and i have had 0% problems with importing/exporting various laser related parts :)

And to me it doesn't seem as counter-intuitive as it sounds, as if you're responsible enough to use a soldering iron/tools the chances are marginally higher you're not big enough of an idiot to shine it at planes.
