Ok the diameter of the ir filter is diameter: 9.5mm and my lasers are 14mm in diameter that will be too loose in the laser?

Its not going to be loose since you have to glue it in. you cant just place it in the laser and close it, it NEEDS to be glued. Also you are going to gouge your laser up taking it apart. The silver cap is glued on and depends who made it but its either a b*tch to take off or its easy

Well how much IR would usually be produced on a supposedly 1mW ebay laser pen btw this is the one I am getting 3pcs Green Purple Voilet RED Laser Pointer Light PEN Beam High Power | eBay and if it's not necessary I don't have to put it on there I just want some protection against harmful stuff

anywhere from 0-100mW of IR. those are cheap, untested and unregulated DPSS modules. Chinese factories crank them out and don't care if one is 5mW and the next is 100mW. It 100% will not be a "1mW" laser. They are normally in the 40-80mW range but sadly over 50% will be due to IR leakage

Mustangman, instead of purchasing these please save your money and time by just buying a 1mW 532nm from LG(only ones so far I have seen :undecided:) if you must.

All this Chinese pen crap isn't worth your time, much less your money :)

I have a budget of $20-30 if you can point me to what lasers are good for that price

Yeah LOL I think I am gonna get them cheap A$$ eBay ones and when I get a proper job and earning a bit I'll buy a good one but atm I am only delivering catalogues and not getting enough to have lots of good lasers and rc cars and my other hobbies :)

Well if your budget is under $30 then I seriously suggest saving some more money and buying something quality. If you get a cheap ebay pen then most likely it will die within the 3 months after purchasing it. Then you just blew that money for nothing. Plus you'll pull it open, scratch the heck out of the host doing so, take the time to glue the filter in and then it dies. Save your money for now, get somewhere around $50-$80 and buy a quality laser that will last you forever. If you get over 5mW then you will need safety glasses and those are $40 right there. As mentioned before, lasers are not a cheap hobby unless you buy crap and crap leads to frustration when it dies

Well I have over $1000 but I don't want to spend much since I prefer to save my money but that's the point I don't want an extremely high powered one I just want one that is fun to play around with like 1-5mW so I was considering buying a cheap host and module from tech hood and putting one together myself.

There lies your problem, the cheap module from anywhere; techhood, fasttech, laserlands, etc.....will NOT be under 5mW. It will be over 50mW 99% of the time.

If you want a true under 5mW laser then the cheapest option is LaserGlow, sorry
