I got some rechargeable CR123's, I thought these are compatible with CR123A (I believe that's the recommended type for this laser). I charged them (Radioshack brand) with the included charger and it doesn't seem to be working anymore.

I'm starting to wonder if my laser is broken. What's going on?

A CR123 battery is 3 volts. A RCR123 battery is 4.2 volts when fully charged, then quickly drops to ~3.6 volts, and slowly discharges from there. Sounds like you ran too much voltage into your laser.
